I really enjoy his art, and his body proportions never once reminded of the notorious CLAMP ones. As for his writing, I think every arc had its good and bad; I didn't like all of the SS arc despite it being hailed as the best one, and I didn't dislike all of the last one despite it being the hailed the worst one.

I do agree that a lot of what went wrong was completely on Kubo. There was his terrible pacing, dragged out fights, dropped plot points, his need to create a ton of side characters which would lead to the main ones and/or earlier introduced side characters being sidelined.

I don't regret reading the series though. You just gotta remind yourself that it's a series aimed at kids/pre-teens and that it's really not that serious.

Well, if we're using this logic. Aizen sees himself as some kind of a God-in-progress and a master planner and manipulator. His Shikai is able to put people under hypnosis by gaining control of all their five senses, basically bending people to his will - just like how he sees himself, as someone in control.

Aizen is shown to be incredable arrogant, and gets angry when faced with things he doesn't understand - Like with Ichigo, being a mere human (from what was thought, at least), using something of the magnitude of the Final Getsuga Tenshou, and the Soul King.

If you use those instances for a Bankai, it would probably be something forceful and choatic. He likes being in control and his Bankai is probably the opposite. It could be dangerous to use even for himself, because it's probably not something easy to understand and use effectively for his desired favor.

The whole half shinigami/hollow making you stronger was thrown out the window so established characters could fight the arrancar instead of the vaizards.
The shikon jewel then became a wish making machine and Ichigo got some random power up that also stole his powers instead of using the half hollow powers that were being built up the entire manga until that point.

That point literally threw away everything we were told and saw about how powerful characters were.

Even that wouldn't really be problem. The problem is he didn't do anything with them (except Kenpachi). If we had seen Rukia and Renji trying to deal with Byakuya's death and developing from it, it could be a nice story. The only other time an arc came to such a sudden conclusion was the Fullbring arc, which was aborted because japs demanded shinigami. Kubo's writing was a mess and his pacing was horrible, but I don't believe for a second that he wanted to pull "lol 5 chapters left" in the middle of multiple battles like that, with so many loose threads that he needed multiple novels to tie them up. The whole "nips demanded shinigamis" thing has never been proven, and since Rukia/Renji/Byakuya showed up in Ichigos dream it was obvious they would show up at some point in that arc.

On top of that, JUMP isn't just going to cancel Bleaxh like that. From interviews of previous mangaka that have been posted in very old Bleach threads, JUMP needs to at least give him a whole year or almost a whole years notice before cancellation.

I personally think Kubo knew the timeline he was working with, but simply fucked it up and decided to go straight to the time skip because Kazui and Ichika meeting was his main goal in the end(he's stated this three times since the ending. I also think he was told that he would get novels which is why he left important characters like Yoruichi, Urahara and the dads out of the final two chapters since he knew the novels would cover that for him.

People took Hitsugya's hypothetical statement about a worst-case scenario involving TEN arrancar and hyped themselves up for years leading to hyper inflated expectations about the VL's powerlevels. Almost certainly, though her hollow form was only shown in filler. The databook says "most" of the espada were "Vasto Lorde level", some interpret that as meaning most were only at the level of a plain non-arrancar VL, I think it just meant #6 and up (minimum) were all VLs. That's the point where they go well above captain level and required weird/specific matchups to lose. By comparison, 7 and 9 lost in brute force slapfights with a single regular shinigami.

Grimmjow only ever lost to hybrids. Nnoitra hurt Kenpachi badly enough to force him to raise his powerlevel. Tia was holding out against a captain and two hybrids. Barragan lost to his own power. Starrk wasn't even trying and it still took multiple captains and hybrids to kill him. Nel is a tossup, she was much stronger than Nnoitra and might have maintained the power gap if she hadn't been crippled, but that's speculation.

Ulq has the power but doesn't technically count as any class of menos.

I wrote this a long time ago when Bleach ended, so I'll write it again.

Ichigo inherited Rukia's powers and gained, temporarily, Sode no Shirayuki. This blade remained with him all the way until the shattered shaft. Inside of his soul, Zangetsu told Ichigo to pull him out before his entire world crumbles, and so he does at the last minute.

Far later in the manga, at Phoenix's castle it's made official that a shinigami CANNOT birth a zanpakto without an asauchi. It is ALSO made fact that all asauchi are basically hollows with no element or characteristic.

When Ichigo calls on Zangetsu for the first time against Urahara, he uses Rukia's asauchi he inherited as a result of getting her powers in the first place, as a BASE to give Zangetsu form--and that blade is plenty strong enough until it makes contact with Zaraki. It's strength is still enough to fit off against a captain class shinigami at like 50% of his raw strength. However, the moment Zaraki's patch comes off, the reiatsu output completely overwhelms the maximum limit of Zangetsu made from Rukia's asauchi base. As a result, the blade breaks and Ichigo gets stabbed near his heart and nearly bleeds out.

AT THIS POINT, his Quincy half brings him back into his inner world and tosses him an Asauchi and ZANGETSU SHOWS UP. There Ywach's shadow tells him to fight the hollow (Zangetsu) and get back his own blade. Ywach tossing Ichigo an asauchi is symbolic, and him telling Ichigo to fight the hollow to get back his real blade is also symbolic. His soul is effectively forging a new asuachi for him using his own hollow powers as the BASE. This NEW BLADE lasts him all the way to Mugetsu, where the blade once again breaks--but only as a result of channeling his entirety of his powers in one final attack.

Then it goes through Xcution arc and he regains his shinigami powers, however his soul reaper badge acts as a BASE for his renewal.

Because the badge stored a vast amount of his hollow/human/shinigami/quincy reiatsu. It all amalgamed into a "fake" BASE for his new Zangetsu--which is why it looked closer to his fullbring. This blade then lasted him all the way till he encountered Ywach, but only broke, when Haschwalt cut his bankai in half.

THEN we got the explanation about how broken bankai can't be fixed, only reforged. We then have Ichigo go to the royal guard, and goes through the steps where he learns of his heritage, blah blah blah; and Zangetsu is forged again using an asuachi PROVIDED BY Phoenix. As a result, Phoenix's asuachi being WEAK PIECES OF FUCKING SHIT can't handle Ichigo's reiatsu and the blade splits into the hollow and quincy half respectively. This blade lasts him all the way till he fights Ywach and the Almighty, only to have it break because ASSPULL CHEAT POWERUP.

HOWEVER, and this is the MOST important part. Zangetsu, when he has the conversation with Ichigo and gives him access to his shinigami powers once more from the get-go, being Ywach's shadow has come to have pride in Ichigo himself and instead of hampering Ichigo, instead helps Ichigo. HERE Zangetsu-Q runs his own gambit where he makes sure that Ichigo's bankai is FAKE. It's why his bankai againgst Almighty Ywach looks like his shikai. This is NOT his real bankai. It's why the blade shatters like a god damn twig against the Almighty--BECAUSE IT'S FORGED BY A SHINIGAMI.

Ywach said when Ichigo got out of Kirge's jail "a quincy cannot contain another quincy." Ichigo's real blade is a blade of harmony between Hollow/Shinigami/Quincy. It cannot be broken by another Quincy. But Phoenix's asauchi based version of Zangetsu DOES break.

And so his shinigami forged blade breaks again. Along comes Tsukishimi and using his Book of End sets the record straight that "his blade did not break". Ichigo then goes and fights Ywach again with his fixed "shinigami-bankai".

Along with Renji, Aizen, and himself, they fight Ywach to the bitter end--and instead of his FAKE bankai breaking again--it only, instead, this time around, cracks.

WHY? Why did it not break? Simple, because of Zangetsu-Q's gambit.

Then Uryuu using the arrow head given to him by Ryuuken shoots Ywach and his powers disappear for a second. Ichigo, then attacks Ywach with this FAKE bankai, but the effects of the arrow begin to wear off and Ywach is able to summon barely enough power to stop the blade in his hand for a moment.

AT THIS POINT, the FAKE bankai shell (courtesy of Zangetsu-Q and Zangetsu-H) shatters to reveal the ORIGINAL Zangetsu forged from Ichigo's soul once more--and this blade then proceeds to cut Ywach in half.

Incidentally, when Ywach has a dream where he's cut down by Ichigo, the ZANGETSU that Ichigo uses is his original. It's NOT the new one.

And thus Ywach dies at Ichigo's hand using the blade forged once more from his own soul. Because it's a Zanpaktou: a SOUL CUTTER.

Thus it becomes full circle, to the birth of Ichigo's powers at the end of the shattered shaft.
