All cultures like meat near the bones. But at some point some cultures forget what good meat taste like.

Proof; any butcher would tell you that lean meat taste horrible, but that the customers insist on low fat for everything. So chicken breasts are now barely edible, and pork is so lean that old school recipes create dry meat.

Europoor here, the thighs seem a bit expensive, but they are from a butcher and not ALDI, so 12€/kg seem somewhat okay-ish, if the quality is good and you want to help the local shops.

The Deals thou seem reasonable, the chicken breasts* for 580 Yen / 4,5€ per kilo seems alright, same with the 880 Yen / 6,9€ per kilo pork chops*.
But the deli meats and salami seem expensive.

1500JPY ~= £10GBP (£10/Kg)
tesco 1kg chicken thighs = £3 (£3/kg)
at £10 a three fold difference isn't that big a jump considering variable supply, marketing and product quality factors included in the price.
though cheap chicken is surprisingly unhealthy.

Japan does this to protect food security. America just does the same thing via a different means of massive subsidies. The argument is the same, that a country can't be too dependent on imported food. Or you end up like Venezuela.

What would happen of Japan couldn't buy oil anymore? Would their cars still work? What I want to say is that no country is independent.
>>
>>159144303
>this, fuck nationalism.
Do you really want to have your food supply be nearly entirely imported? You have any idea how dangerous that is?
Free Markets, by its very nature, meant food would only be produced in a few laces on Earth. But that is lethal to national security. You can't let a few nations have control of your food supply. Thus it is the interest of any nation that they at least be able to feed themselves if under blockade. That food security is why you protect your farmers.
>>
>>159144413
>What would happen of Japan couldn't buy oil anymore? Would their cars still work? What I want to say is that no country is independent.
If that happens then Japan will go full nuclear with breeder reactors. They have the means, they just doesn't want to do it unless you force their hand.

And any nation that assumes oil supply will continue for ever is too stupid to survive.
>>
>>159144413
You're right, but even if having no oil plunge your society in chaos, at least your population can still fucking eat. Being self-reliant when it comes to food is what's most important.

At worst can replace oil with electricity. You can't replace food.

Yes they'll produce less, but producing less when your production usually covers more than 100% of your needs is far less dangerous than producing less than whent your production only covers 80% of your needs. Both food and oil shortages are bad obviously. But if you can take measures to avoid at least ONE of them, why wouldn't you take them in the first place ?

The difference is the geopolitical situation of each country, ignoring natural disasters for a second, and in that case it really depends. Japan has to protect it's merchant shipping considering that it is an island and extremely dependent on a number of imports. China is the number one threat in the region and if Japan wishes to survive instead of starve during a war with China, it needs to protect merchant shipping and stock food. Nationalism is much more akin to a self defense doctrine desu. But liberals don't understand this because they are suicidal on behalf of their nation anyway and hate self defense in general. They just love coddling poor violent criminals as long as they are not white and would have them ransack whole low crime neighborhoods because of their white privilege of not being criminal lowlife scum.

No they do it because the election system is designed in such a way that as long as the LDP wins the rural parts of the country, they'll always hold power in elections. It's how they've stayed in power despite not winning the popular vote since like 1963.

That's the same theory for American farm subsidies. But the ones who actually sign these off are those who know it is about food security period. Farmers don't have lobbyists, they are too poor. And they are too few in the modern day to swing votes. What matters is that they needed to keep food production capacity up.
>>
>>159151040
>We don't need to skimp out because the reality is humanity currently produces enough food to feed 12 billion people, most of it just goes to waste.
That is meaningless because food isn't liquid as a good. Having a lot of food in once country doesn't help the starving people on another country. You are completely ignoring the reality that food security is one of the vital functions of government, just as important as maintaining an army.

Which is a completely separate (though not entirely unrelated) issues. These "net refugee" topic is more complex, since a lot people who live these cybercafes do have jobs, but simply choose not to live in proper apartment

>>159150325
Plenty of them do have jobs, but the reason for them to live such lifestyle varies. Some of them do have their own apartment but chose not to go home because the train fare is significantly more expensive than spending a night in these net cafe (hell they even end up moving out of their apartment and become full time net refugee). Some people felt lonely living alone in their apartment and choose to live in net cafe or else they'd sudoku themselves. Some live in one until there's vacancies in company/public-housing. But a lot of them simply couldn't afford to rent an apartment near where they work. This is especially true in Tokyo, one of the most expensive place to live

It's kinda ironic since these people could totally own (yes, own) a proper house in the countryside

The US is a disgusting wasteland of fat, lazy, moronic Trumptards and their population is the one that should be eradicated.
I'm American and I firmly believe this. What a vile fucking disgusting land of shit we live in. People shooting eachother every day, raping children and getting away with it over minor legal technicalities so they can do it again, frat boys raping incapacitated women and being treated like they're more important because "they have a promising future," microwaving animals for fun, burning houses down because the owner isn't white - fuck this garbage.

>simply choose not to live in proper apartment
Incorrect. They "choose" to live this life because the costs of living thanks to the inflated prices of the basics like food and housing leaves them with almost no savings.
They can't buy a house from their savings alone and no bank would give them loan due to the lack of personal estates for cover, making them risky by banking standards.
This is an issue in many European countries too, see England for instance.
So they "choose" to live in small boxes to save on rent and maybe don't starve to death without any savings in case the employment is over.
And they wonder why the population is declining.

this desu. Capitalism works because at its core it's survival of the fittest, which is exactly how nature works.

When done correctly the fitness is based on who can be the innovative/effective/cheapest, which directly benefits society. At its worst it falls into meta territory over who can screw their competition the hardest or be the hackiest, which still produces things but leads to shit.

Socialism has NEVER worked because at its core communism doesn't work. No one wants to give up their stuff so a stranger to be lazy, which is why social programs only work when they're heavily restricted and protected against abuse.

It gets a bad rep because you see dirt cheap packs of skin on thighs injected with water to increase the weight that look nasty and are a pain to prepare.

Chicken breast also has a firmer, more consistent texture and more readily soaks up the flavour of any sauce it's cooked in.

Protip: EVERYTHING breaks down when people are shit. Whether you like it or not there WILL be autists who discover that they can make more money by screwing people rather than doing their job. That's just a fact of life and there's nothing you can do to change that.

The next best thing is to outlaw the meta practices so that a business' "fitness" is primarily based on how good of a job they do, rather than how many people/acres they shit on in the process. Unregulated business is a recipe for great achievements but also unlocks great disaster all the same.

Socialism changes the scope so that instead of keeping making sure a handful of business owners don't shit too hard you have to keep a lookout for literally EVERYONE trying to scam the free gibmes until your goverment tits are milked barren.

It's all demand. Breasts are perceived as the more glamorous, easier to cook option--not as an article of faith or anything. just as a vague general prejudice. So people buy them more.

During the last recession, people stopped buying the supposedly more expensive breasts, and switched to thighs and legs, causing prices to shift to the point that thighs were actually MORE expensive than breasts, based solely on their perception of being cheaper!

I am sorry, but you seem to be disregarding the policies of nations since nations existed. That is not how it works. Gun Runners are insufficient for the needs of a nation, and you don't want to depend on a foreigner for your weapon supply. This is not debatable, this is how every nation works. Some countries don't make their own weapons but they are famous as a minority. Finland ended up with nearly every nation's weapons in its armoury because it didn't have its own local arms. It was a major issue. Stop thinking that army weapon supply is anything like you shopping for a rifle.

Pretty much every country subsidizes their farmers in one way or another, either through taxes (US) or higher food prices (Japan).
It's a bad idea to completely rely on foreign actors to not starve, same reason countries don't outsource their military among other things.
>>
>>159159262
The UK became a globe-spanning empire in part due to capitalist bankers. While that fell apart as the places they conquered started rebelling and going independent, nearly every successful country today adapted capitalism. Particularly the US, however the US gained large influence of the world due to post WW2 money politics. Though that probably ties into capitalist management and politics.

Capitalism at its core is an incredibly successful strategy proven by history. It's simply amass stuff and use it to amass more stuff. It's not rocket science.

Your argument is about efficiency. But nations don't care about efficency if it means losing food production. If you had to buy your food overseas, you would get massive shocks if your exchange rate changes. Sure it might have been cheaper to buy your food from another nation, but if the exchange rate doubled then you would not have time to restart local farms that no longer existed. You NEED food production that you can control, in your borders.
>>
>>159161909
>The UK became a globe-spanning empire in part due to capitalist bankers.
To be fair, the whole colonialism thing isn't capitalism: it's mercantilism. America is the big daddy of capitalism: it was generally anti-colonial (despite having glorified naval bases in Guam, the Phillipenes and Cuba) and supported the breaking up of colonial markets and enforcing a global free market. What the old powers of Europe did was the oppossite: conquer foreign lands to gain exclusive access to their resources, process these resources into goods in the homeland and then sell them back to the colonial population or to other 'civilized' countries. To name one example, the French conquered Vietnam to gain exclusive access to its rubber (which created an economic boom which resulted in the automobile tire giant known as Michelin). That's mercantilism. Free market capitalism would mean the French buying this rubber from them on the global market (and Michelin probably being a Vietnamese company).

I am not saying it is a mistake to want to buy German guns. German guns are very nice. I am saying a nation can't always assume that Germany would have guns to sell. In real life during WW2, smaller nations found out that the major nations at war simply have no guns for sale because 100% of their production is being used for their own troops and they didn't have any to spare. That's the reality. Being a small nation makes it worse because you become low priority.

>So, chicks is still pretty cheap and easily be sourced from the agricultural department. If that fail, Colombia government chicken breeding farm should have lots on the cheap.
The issue is price control. Venezuela currency is devalued outside the the country, which meant that it will cost a lot for you to buy your chickens. And then when you raise them you need feed, which you will struggle to find locally.

But most importantly, once you tried to sell the meat, you get hit with price control and the reason why no one is making food. The government will force you to sell the meat at a loss, because it is assuming that the local currency is NOT massively devalued. And it will tell you to sell the meat at 1/10th the costs of what you spent to grow it.

You can go black market, but you will get shut down.

Because the software is made by US companies.

They don't want to give up there profit margins, and US customers would refuse to pay the premium for the software they wouldn't be able to justify if they charged you less.

>Japs are racist who refuses Chinese meat aid/trade.

The Chinese are a morally bankrupt people who believe that if you can get away with cheating someone than they deserve to be cheated and you've done no wrong.

Accepting aid from China, accepting TRADE from China is basically just a slow form of food poisoning. Nothing they make is of acceptable or serviceable quality as they simply do not care about others: they are devoid of heart, empathy, sympathy, common sense and are a pitiable, pathetic, evil people that I would compare to pigs- If it weren't for the fact that even pigs have the decency to not shit where they eat.

It is telling that the Chinese social elite have their own separate food supply. This is an extension of Ancient China when the Imperial court had foods grown and produced for their exclusive consumption. Basically those who are in the upper crust get to have safe food. The poor are stuck with garbage, and the recent rising middle class resort to importing food.
>>
>>159181054
And really, it was well known that the "safe food" existed but not talked about. But then someone messed up and announced that Chinese astronauts were not allowed to eat normal Chinese food produce, that they get the "good stuff". The common people had to then wonder "what the hell are the rest of us eating, then?"

To be honest...I don't see India lasting another few generations. There's going to be some kind of fucked up plague that's going to happen or be dropped on them and they're going to get completely ruined.

There was even that time in 2013, the head of the Beijing Institute of Public Health and Drinking Water, said that her family had not drank tap water for 20 years. That they used bottled water for rice, tea, and drinking. You can tell it is bad, when the person managing the water supply refuses to give that same water to her own children.

While there are some extreme problems with Chinese agriculture. The fact they have no standards whatsoever regarding safety and hygiene is prevalent throughout the whole industry and not quite something that is clearly divided among the lower class and the elite. They have startups ran by random people too. As well as sham shells made for the purpose of scams and the quick buck. Those aren't run by the actual long-standing businesses, but rather con-artists. See that one Steel Industry picture that was posted earlier.

There's also the fact that a lot of China's safety and hygiene problems tie-in with the immense sewage and pollution. Having one of the densest populations on Earth and extremely poor plumbing infrastructure simply means there isn't good water to use a lot of the time. Like the sewage feeder fish industry.

But then again, it might lead to complaints about the Chinese Government doing fuck all to fix those problems.

>>159181670
Considering some studies on immune systems, there's actually a decent chance of Indians having the strongest immune systems currently. What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger actually applies with immune systems and Indian hygiene hasn't killed them yet. They'll probably be one of the first victims of any new plague, but they also stand the highest survival level probably.
