The young man’s eyes opened ever so slightly and looked towards the girl. A sudden happiness welled up inside her chest. She could convey to him. After losing everything, even losing sight of who she was, one last wish still remained inside her tattered heart. There were words she wanted convey to him before she disappeared for good.
Thank you.
She moved her lips to form those words, then, with every ounce of strength left inside her broken body, she smiled.
After a brief moment, the girl’s consciousness terminated, never to return again.

Maybe, just maybe there’s a chance, she thought. She wanted to believe in miracles.

Reposting the short summary of the following volumes:

Ren & Willem get sent into a illusion-world made by the Shiantor, the first beast.
The Shiantor is actually Almaria and in this illusion they have to go through several events back 500 years ago, which is how they get to know what happened with Elq, end up freeing her, and setting Almaria to rest.
Because of this the Shiantor gets divided into both of them and they now become immortal, have beast powers, etc.
Due to Ren being a Fairy she is able to suppress the first beast's urges but Willem goes through a hard time.
Stuff happens and they get separated.
Willem's memories get wiped in order to keep the beast side in check and on a occasional series of events he ends up running a tavern with Elq.
Yes, Elq is alive again after being freed by Willem and Ren during the Shiantor's illusion and she finds her way to Willem.
Ren goes back to EbonCandle & Suwon and all of them start searching for Willem.
More stuff happens and the floating isle countries start to make experiments with the fairies in order to gain military advantage since the beasts that could reach Regles Aile are all practically destroyed by now.
The experiment goes wrong and Willem chooses to intervene using his beast powers, only to lose control and go berserk shortly after.
He then fights off against Rhan, Ithea, etc. and gets back-stabbed by Lakhesh with Senioris.
William then activates Senioris' Immortal Killer ability himself and gets sealed for X years.
EbonCandle can revive him but doing this would turn him into a beast which Ren says no.
Ren and Elq stay with Willem the entire time while he is asleep.
Vol.5 ends.
SukaMoka happens.
After some time and the events in SukaMoka, Willem manages to awake on his own, memories fully restored, and goes to the Fairy house.
On his way a girl that resembles Cthulhu falls on him and when he meets Naigrat he says a Tadaima line to which she answers with a Okaerinasai.

Takes place after vol 5 where Niggalot starts talking to the little ones what Willem told her regarding the previous wielders of Seniorious.
It's followed by some side stories regarding Lilia's past, her meeting with Willem and Willem being Mr Popular 600 years ago and how Lilia is madly in love with him.
There's also a short story about Cthulhu's training and how Willem beat Cthulhu, Ren and Ithea with just martial arts. Later on the 3 girls overheard Willem's conversation with a stranger and thought he wanted to leave so they tried to stop him but it turns out to be a misunderstanding. This is where Cthulhu realized she's falling in love with Willem. Supposedly this takes place somewhere in vol 2.
There's also some short stories here and there about why Ren stuck so close to Willem.

And I guess these threads are going to be dying down soon since mostly everyone has seen the final episode already.
So I probably won't be posting these as regularly anymore.

Every spoiler in these threads has always been under the spoiler tags as far as I know.
But to answer your question, the Anime adapted 3 volumes out of the 5 that make the story.
It ended on Volume 3 and it was a pretty good 1-1 adaptation.
Volumes 1 to 4 have also been fully translated, with 5 going on chapter 4 right now. You can read them yourself and then take the conclusions on how good the show was.
Overall though, aside from one autist in the previous thread, the general consensus is that the show itself is rather decent, with some people even calling it AOTS. Hence it stands on it's own quite fairly without requiring for someone to even read the LN.

Amidst that never ending monotony, Elq’s dreams alone changed bit by bit. Floating islands fell at the hands of the drifting Teimerre. Some fairies prevented those attacks by making their Venom run berserk. As always, when night came, Elq viewed the fairies’ lives. She watched as the fairies learned the language of the island people, received swords, and became like soldiers while still being treated as weapons.
At that point, some of the fairies began to hold a sense of self and the desire to live. For some reason, Elq couldn’t see those fairies for some time after their birth. Only after they grew up did their stories connect to her dreams. According to Carma, those fragments, after passing through many reincarnations, had moved closer to existing independently, weakening their connection with Elq in the process. That meant Elq’s amusing stories would eventually disappear altogether. She wasn’t too happy upon hearing the news.

Temeire have multiple shells/lives. The bigger the Temeire the more shells it has, and the more times you have to kill it before it stays permadead.

The one that landed on the islands that they fought had over 200 shells. With how small the ones that they fought on the ground were, it can be assumed that they only had a few shells each.

Also, the anime didn't do justice to their forms. Each shell takes a different form. If I remember right, one of the forms that the one on the island took was a giant old man without a face.

That's from ~30 years ago, when some furry Empire declared war upon their neighbouring islands and began invading them. The generals of the fairy battalion decided they were a threat to world peace and mobilised their forces to attack the Empire, and during this war, two young girls were ordered to destroy a transport airship that they were told contained weapons of mass destruction. Now these girls were the best of friends since birth, always together, closer than sisters. The Empire guards were no match for their Carillons and they successfully blew up the airship, to see the contents burn before them. Innocent women and children who were fleeing from the warzone, screaming in pain and agony as the flames engulfed them.

One girl swore to never forgive the fairy battalion. They were lied to and made to kill innocents, people with families and loved ones just like them. So she raised her sword with the intent of rebelling against the fairy batallion, of liberating the other fairies and declaring independence. But the other girl, she knew that if they did that, it would spell doom for all other fairies born in the future, that they would be captured by the batallion and forced to fight against their will, no longer allowed the peaceful life in their warehouse they currently have. So she decided she had to stop her best friend, with force if need be.

Neither of them survived the fight. No one ever knew what happened to them.

It's strongly implied that the personality that overwrites Lakesh is the girl I just wrote about who died 30 years ago. Although she doesn't have her memories of that time, she still feels a strong sense of anger towards the fairy battalion, especially Collon - my guess would be that the girl she fought 30 years ago strongly resembles Collon, and so she instinctively wants to attack her on sight. Unlike old Lakesh who was timid and mild, new Lakesh is outspoken and confident, willing to fight to get her way.
