They went out of this way to salvage the story from the manga with additional fun scenes and even going as far as adding extra backstory.

Is this Mirai Nikki v2?

The OVA is worth watching, it actually makes the story look fun and interesting. Great sense of mystery, cool fights and awesome music.
I don't think the TV show's visuals were bad, but the story certainly shit the bed
