Aside from that there is barely any death, brutality or cruelty. The villains are either generic or just retarded, there are like two deaths that you can give a fuck about and things start going pretty well for Naofumi once the Pope things ends.
It only gets really edgy when Tact shows up and that's like a bajillion chapters in so there is no way the anime will ever reach it. It also gets kind of boring when it's nothing but Naofumi doing random shit in his village. And both things might be meaningless considering the LN apparently went a completely different way.

Greed series use property as payment, lower drop quality and any money or high-level gear you use rusts away into dust.

Pride at it's highest leaves you with the emotional depth of a potato. And also stops SP gain, which is a problem for heroes like itsuki who use SP for regular attacks.

I never understood why slimes are supposed to be considered the weakest mobs. I know DQ did it so it basically became fact, but to me it doesn't make much sense.

Sure, slimes are probably as slow as slugs and about as smart, but considering physical attacks should hardly work on them, if at all, it makes no sense for them to be considered the weakest trash mob unless magic attacks are common enough. But magic isn't usually that common either, so they probably aren't immune/resistant to phys attacks like dnd slimes tend to be, or metal slimes in DQ.

I don't really want happy-go-lucky, I just feel like when people actually start realising he's not a bad guy and apologising and stuff that maybe he should lighten up a bit every now and then once things start getting better. But it seems like every time somebody realises "maybe he's not a bad guy after all" something really fucking bad happens and throws him into the pits of despair again, but this time with his newfound allies.

If it could have just had a bonding moment with the other heroes it would have been nice. But I stopped somewhere after Raphtalia's backstory mansion, and the most recent chapter I saw (but missed the inbetween) had the church pull out a "stronger than heroes" superweapon, and mentioned that bow and sword hero were already dead and shield and spear were all that's left while trying to kill them both.
