Because the first 4 girls introduced were absolute garbage and annoying. Also, the "collect the stumps" plot was boring as shit and pretty much told you what would happen in the entire cour at the end of episode 1. Typically at that point, you'd use characters to keep people interested, however as previously mentioned they were annoying trash.
