It got a second season, but it was hugely controversial because it had 8 of the same episodes in a row. Then we got the movie which everyone jizzed over. I think that was in 2010? So yeah, 7 years of no content will do that. And everyone knows the books don't count.

Like I said, from the main series we got the first season, then a second season, then the movie. After that, we've only gotten shit no one cares about. Nothing from the main story in 7 years.

the 8 episode thing had a reason for being the way it was, which made more sense in the context of the book, as for the reason there was no third season, was namely because from what Ive heard was contoversy regarding a few of the voice actors and the fact the author shortly after the movie hadnt written a book since. All of the novels were translated. They could probably do a third season, but the story never really ended just kinda stopped, shame too.

Only in the context of the original season. The second season was meant to be watched WITH the first season in chronological order, so original broadcast order means nothing unless you plan to only watch season 1. The argument that chronological order "removes the climax" only applies if you don't plan to watch Disappearance, which is a fine climax in and of itself.
I'm partial to the novel order myself, but by no means is that a good order to watch the anime in on your first viewing

Season 2 was released as part of a season 1 rebroadcast in chronological order.
The "proper" release order is season 1 release order followed by both seasons in chronological order, but since I doubt anyone will want to watch season 1 twice, new viewers are better off watching chronological order.

No, season 2 episodes were broadcast in between season 1 episodes based on where they fit on the timeline. So the way it was broadcast is like this:
season 1 broadcast (2006) -> season 1 + 2 combined, in chronological order (2009)
Season 2 was never actually broadcast on its own, so technically "season 2 broadcast order" INCLUDES season 1. I don't actually recommend anyone watch it in that order, since that would entail watching season 1 twice.
That's where all the confusion comes from in the first place- season 1 broadcast order and season 2 broadcast order directly conflict with each other.

Apparently the Japanese care very much about the purity of their VAs so when it was discovered that the one who voices Haruhi was a slut that slept with band members her popularity went from god tier to shit tier.
