I'd be OK with something like IRC, but the fact of the matter is that IRC wasn't designed in a forward thinking way, back when it was made in the 80's. Today it's just such a shitty system, and in many ways it's comparable to giving a normal person a task to edit a document using Vim on a console-only Unix/Linux OS.Most people don't care to or want to delve in that kind of shit and want a system that's actually intuitive.

Whereas Discord is actually very intuitive and very accessible from any device you want to chat on (phone/table/PC/etc, with options for browser client or dedicated install client), it loses that security.

I wish /g/'s Tox project actually got anywhere, as it was meant to be a forward-thinking encrypted and secure peer-to-peer chat network, but as with all /g/ projects, the logo gets made, bratty kids argue back and forth and then the repository just gets abandoned.

It's not difficult to understand that most people are OK with discarding some amount of privacy just to get the ease of use of that product; see Google Search, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, and more.

So I received a mail from toranoana saying something about my package being refuse/rejected by my address (proxy) and some instructions about how to send it back.

Japanese manga really is just a lot cheaper. In the neighborhood of 500 to 800 yen is usual. The localized versions are more expensive because you're paying for the translation plus whatever licensing fees.

Amazon.jp ships to most countries, and so does HMV (which now has an English site), so if all you're buying is manga you don't even need a proxy.

Besides, they give you a return window of a month or so, so you can just hold onto the original and if the replacement shows up worse, you send that back and replace another one. Repeat as necessary until they get it right.
