Mirio was born was born with the most OP quirk in the universe and even so he needed a massive plot armor to "beat" "all of" 1A.

1) Bakugo had to be written out before the fight with a lame cop out excuse. Not even the Redditor (the one guy who likes Mirio) can dispute the fact that Bakugo would rape him since his Plot Armor beats everything.

2) He knew their quirks in advance, they did not know his. In a real combat situation, it's not "haha, I punched you once, I win".

3) Those who had quirks that could randomly kill him didn't use them (Acido, Kaminari - they don't need to know where he is, Kaminari literally lost only because it WASN'T a 1v1).

4) Those who had quirks that make it impossible for him to beat them - Kirishima, Tooru, Tokoyami, Deku - simply didn't use them.

On a re-match, 1v1, he can only beat Sato, Koda, Jiro, Tenya, Shoji, Ochako, maybe Ojiro. Mineta, his gf, Tsuyu, even pinoy Sero can stay out of his reach. Deku, Kirishima, Tokoyami are impenetrable**. Tooru is unhittable. Denki and Mina are unbeatable.

**Unless he knows how to phase punch (which I could do easily myself, with his quirk)

Unless it has long term ramifications to the entire story, I don't think villains literally introduced this arc deserve to have a long running arc for themselves compared to previous arcs that were shorter with recurring villains.

Also I dunno, one reason I've been enjoying Hero Academia is because none of the arcs overstayed their welcome. Thats a seriously common issue with Shonen in general, and I was happy MHA has generally avoided that pitfall.

I'd hate to see it fall into it with an arc focusing on almost nothing but new characters.

Its pretty much 100% based around the fact that Kanji is confusing. The same symbol can be read in different ways.
Bakugou took kanji from midoriya's name to come up with Deku which means weakling or something.

But Uraraka saw the same kanji and realized it also could mean "never give up" or something too.

I think there may be something else going on. The only way I could see his current look being him reinventing himself was if he thought for some reason there was no way he'd actually get into UA. Deku is always written in katakana. Bakugou took the two Kanjis from Deku's name and used different readings from them, that part is correct. So it sounds like this word 木偶 , which means a wooden figure a fool or a good for nothing

But Ochako didnt knew his name written or not, so she couldnt guess the pronunciation. Honestly it is weird how she understand it.

In japanese the phrase she uses is this one:

Well, they were childhood friends, and it's told that Bakugo's behavior slowly got worse as time progressed (and people all around him started praising for his new quirk).
