I'm not sure if it would be better for you to watch S2, or watch the Gaiden OVA episodes first, or just skip the whole fiasco altogether. Any way you slice it though, the rest of it is not going to be what you'd expect, to say the least.

There's also two manga. One has a completely different storyline from the anime, and the other is a continuation of what happens from the first season, and is a completely different ending from Gaiden/S2.
