Maoyuu Maou Yuusha came perhaps the closest to a workable adaptation by just adding a time-skip after 80% of the episodes so all the LN bullshit could be skipped over. Back in the Web Novel, when Atlas died Naofumi was extremely distraught and traumatized. Because Fohl was her brother there was this awkward scene where he ended up sitting on a bed with him alone in his room.

It was a weird scene and it was mostly just Naofumi being extremely shell shocked from losing someone close to him and other characters slightly miss-interpreting things. That said I was mostly joking because I thought it was a really funny scene when I first read the WN.
