So far they've only used Link Summoning, but that's mostly because they have to go into more detail with how it works since they also changed the shape of the board. Typical re-conditioning and teaching stuff. Pendulum had a half-dozen episodes where the only other summoning methods used were Fusion and Tribute.

MC is autistic as fuck, so it'll depend on your own personal tastes, but so far he seems to be at the very least competent. He has a couple of quirks that rub some people the wrong way (like an obsession with giving 3 reasons behind everything), but again that's mostly personal taste.

The Skill thing is hit or miss. Some like it because it's restricted to once per duel per player, but others are irritated with how Yusaku seems determined to grind himself to 1000 LP just so he can Storm Access for the game-winning card instead of just having good cards in his deck to begin with.

Hmmm, I hope they stick to Link Summons then. Arc-V was riddled with all kinds of summoning and it all just confused the fuck out of me because I never watched 5D's or XYZ so I had no idea about Tuning and XYZ stuff. Pendulum was weird and overpowered.

I'm just a nostalgia faggot I guess, I liked it when it was simpler. Just tribute summoning and fusion was enough for me. The game seems to have changed in a way that you're supposed to try and get your entire Monster field filled with cards on your first turn, rather than building it up as the duel continues. Many duels in Arc-V just had people summon four monsters on their first turn somehow, then send them to the graveyard to summon their mascot card and then somehow getting two or three more summons in.
You could never win in these modern duels if you used an old-fashioned Kaiba deck or something.

Either you're not as much of a nostalgiafag as you think you are, or you'll hate Links in practice. Combos now are heavily reliant on WHERE you put your cards, not just WHAT cards you put on the board.

Placement literally added another layer of strategy to this game that previously only existed in a series of cards that Konami considers "a mistake".

Well, like I said, I must be nostalgic for when I used to run around school with my deck playing against classmates. Or playing the GBA games. I can't keep up with all these new rules. I mean, it's fine as long as I can enjoy the show and understand what is going on, but I'll probably never play the game online or anything. I tried it a couple of years ago and decks really have become themed. Like you build your deck with a number of monsters/cards that share a name and you can do all kinds of fancy tricks with them, like summoning one allows you to summon up to three similar ones from your deck or something, and then you can immediately sacrifice them to get your ace card out. It's all a bit too much for me. I know I'm a casual, but I don't mind.
Like I said, if I can enjoy the show, that's fine. But I'll probably never play the actual card game again, just too much catching up to do.

Do you have any idea the amount of players in the game that have returned from GX? It's a LOT. Seriously, the number is BIG.

You can ask anyone here that goes to a card shop or a locals tournament if there are people like that and you will find someone mentioning how they helped returning players get back in the game and/or teach them. It takes less than an hour for somebody to learn this stuff. It really isn't difficult for in a few plays someone have an idea for what's going on. The players even warn new players of what to watch out for and every new season people will riscuss how to deal with newer decks or stuff like that.

Everyone here started as a clueless noob that probably did 60 cards decks with fusions and rituals jammed in with completely luck-driven slow strategies. Everyone that plays the game, casual or not, came from that square.

I was just talking about this online YGO game, forgot what it was called, and you compiled a deck out of EVERY card available. Then when I started dueling people online I just got completely lost. When their turn came they did like 5 or 6 different things but it never gets explained, you just see a close-up of the card. So I ended up stopping. What're you on about? I like Duel Links, but the physical game is way more fun and open to different playstyles. Duel Links has 2 strategies: Burn and Beatdown. One of those is shit compared to a well-made version of the other.

The issue with the physical game is that competitive formats are a fucking joke due to an absurd power gap between casual decks and meta decks, which is caused in part by intentional power rifts as well as rarity differences in meta cards causing absurd price hikes, leaving them largely out of the hands of casual players. If you play stupid casual decks with your friends then the game is loads of fucking fun.

I really doubt it. There's no compelling reason for that kind of effort as long as they're shilling what's demanded, and one month is so little time if they had to go back to the writing stage and do everything all over again. The most likely reason for the delay is to finish up the animation a little more since the first few episodes would've been in production right next to Arc-V's last episodes, and Arc-V's finale used a lot of their best key animators. Animation is by far the longest part of the process even though the writing and storyboarding parts are somewhat more fundamental to how well an episode will turn out.

Remember that there was about 4 months between the original release about YGO6 (including the name, the mechanic, premise, MC, ect) and the actual first episode's release. While the time frame is a bit constrained, it IS enough time for there to have been a studio kerfluffle to cause rewrites and/or other potential production issues.

The main conflict is that the MC we were told about back in December/January and the MC that we actually got are essentially two different people. That's what most people are using as the basis of the "VRAINS was rewritten" claims, so you need to be able to attack that if you want to tear them down.

Well yeah, a lot of studios right now are struggling to find enough competent slaves to make their anime. It's not like studio Wit wouldn't have wanted to make SnK season 2 two cours instead of just one, but things didn't pan out. It's not like the producers wanted Arc-V to look like ass most of the time, or for Vrains to have a shoddy looking first 5 episodes.

Considering the incompetency of NAS's marketing team, I wouldn't be surprised if they got notes from very early in pre production and simply failed to communicate properly. And it's not like the newbie thing went entirely unused either, since that's how Yusaku is viewed by the classmates he's talked to so far.

Konami isn't even directly involved with the anime's production, that's NAS's job. They probably give occasional mandates as the sponsor (I guess?), but it's hard to tell if anything that seems to happen behind the scenes was Konami's idea or was on NAS, who are actually directly involved with everything on the anime side of the franchise, including the actual process of making the show and its branding and advertising.
