What in the world are you talking about. I barely pay attention to Soma threads because I think the series is superior when animated, but even I had to clue in during these arcs.

1) Introduction most of the Elite 10 who were a complete mystery prior to this.
2) Aizen's coup, reveal that he is the father, bullying of Erina
3) Souma coming in to save the day.
4) Reveal to Erina of Souma's father
5) Alice breakout of Erina.
6) Erina to PSD
7) Erina and Souma relationship development.

These are huge things that a core part of the audience wanted for a long time. Also all of the little SOL antics from the election are fun too. I actually tuned out /after/ these arcs, because it seems like the plot will be stalled for awhile. But these arcs have the most plot development in the entire series.
