It's a sports anime with an emphasis on videogame-y storyline (For obvious reasons) and tokusatsu-esque techniques that can range from ridiculous to just plain silly. Outside of the shota designs, it's a show with a niche audience within a niche audience. Most older viewers just wouldn't be interested in it.
