Glenn is definitely one of the best protagonists I've seen from these battle harem shows, In fact I'd say he's miles above most other protagonists from this genre and he carried the entire show alone. I feel the show is at it's best when it's showcasing Glenn's random antics, trolling and all the class events. They were really fun to watch and Glenn certainly delivers on the comedy aspect. Unfortunately, these parts are bogged down entirely by the show's so called serious arcs which felt very mediocre both in terms of story and execution. I suppose it was entertaining enough as we could at least see Glenn's abilities. The characters are likable but no one really stands out apart from Glenn and like I said, it's kinda sad how his great character is brought down by the show's plot.

The pacing of the whole thing was pretty poor overall. There wasn't enough time spent on that Angel's Dust thread to have anything about its relevance click until the very end when it's explained to you as to why.

Main character is interesting - jaded veteran hero is better than generic milquetoast protag any day of the week. It's a shame that he reverts to that stereotype whenever battle picks up.

I think the creators just wanted to end on the wedding dress fight scene and threw caution to the wind as far as pacing went. Character personalities also come off as pretty bland archetypes that have been overused to shit.

Not the worst piece of garbage I could have watched this season, at least.

Gale Blow was [Pay heed / great wind], but the thing she used was [Great breath / pay heed]. You also noticed how the magic circle used wasn't green but mint green. I think it's a teaser to next-level elemental spells.

Remember Aeolus, god of the winds? He's commonly depicted in maps as a head blowing winds with his mouth.

Moving on, I think that Jatice's tulpas are simply weak against physical force, and his hubris (along with knowing that Glenn won't be able to dent his creations) prevented him from making them more sturdy. Fortunately, one of the things Sisti's class learned is dealing with magical constructs, so Sisti had a slight advantage.

I don't think Fool's World was deactivated. It's just that Glenn chose to not use it because Jatice uses magic that circumvents the activation process a normal spell uses. Using it during the final battle will only put him at the same disadvantage as during Episode 11.

Doesnt matter what anyone else says, I enjoyed this show a lot. This, sukasuka and eromanga were the shows I enjoyed the most this season even though sukasuka decided to go full suffering in the end.

Glenn is an amazing MC that messes around and gets shit done. He's not super broken in terms of strength but he's strong enough to get stuff done and doesn't cower in fear until plot dictates he has to temporarily grow a pair to overcome the threat in front of him. Shows really need more MCs like him.

The girls were great too. Re=L's arc was pretty bad but she's okay outside her arc, Sistine was super cute and even though Rumia got kidnapped like it was her job, she was super cute too. Really fun, would watch a S2 of it.

Because she's not used to the idea of PCP addicts, so she's essentially seeing Glenn mow down civilians while wearing his edgy coat and casting about his murder glare. I actually liked her reacting this way, it makes sense in terms of her character arc because she is trying to become stronger. This was a point for her to question what she might become by following that path, and it drove home how Glenn used to be a state sanctioned killer. It plays on what happened to her in the last arc because she couldn't act then; this time she finds her resolve.

I actually liked her reaction there, pretty much the closest she's come to being a compelling character.

The ideal way for it to end would be to have Sisti almost out of mana, but not quite, and for Glenn to be the one to notice her condition, then pick her up and flee before Jatice can recover. Sisti could then protest about defeating his arch-enemy, to which Glenn would respond by saying that his goal isn't to beat Jatice (showing that he's let go of his fury and is prioritizing their lives over victory). She mumbles something about still not being strong enough, and he praises her by saying she was strong enough to save him (dual meaning of saving him physically and mentally).

Jatice was a shitty villain. Terrible motives, little buildup, and no staying power at all. Those final few episodes with Leo or whatever his name was and Jatice were lacking ANY emotion and story, all crammed in to so few episodes. If they stretched the content of every episode up to the underground events to fit 12 episodes, it would have been better by a mile.

Jatice Rawfan was Tarot 11, "Justice". An alchemist and a specialist in summoning artificial souls from false soul particles (i.e., motherfucking tulpas).
Henrietta Doull was Tarot 16, "The Tower". Nickname is "Doll Maker". Lost against rival Celica in a duel, and was completely warped by that defeat. Cue the attack in the village where Glenn lived. Was probably one of the first people that ate an Extinction Ray directly.

Both Kristoff and Bernard appeared on the last episode. Kristoff is the shota-looking boy, and Bernard is the gruff-looking man. Kristoff's magic is kinda like Rin Tohsaka's magic, using gemstones as catalysts.

It was a decent 6/10 battle harem. It was strongest when it focused on Glen's antics/past, the actual lessons and lectures to students, the difficulty of adjusting to a normal life, and the core theme of "reclaiming ones place in the world". It was at its weakest when it created unnecessary rescue arcs, overly-complicated conspiracies, and relied too much on exposition that it only provided very late in the game.

I liked the characters for the most part. They just needed each arc to be less formulaic.

I think some of the first arcs are necessary build up/establishment. Other wise you'd complain when rumia 'suddenly' has the attributes of magic amplifier and 'disowned princess', further implying that royals have a connection to old/rare magic. Cat's engagement could be another problem if it's never mentioned until seconds before it's relevant, but again it fits in an autocratic world where her parents are apparently people with power/money (same goes for that school I assume only the money/power kids get to go there). Reil uses that established royal/rare magic and deals with mechanics of the worlds magic (the arc would be better if it was handled differently, as it uses pre-established information and builds on it).

If LN people are to be believed the LNs might do this whole thing justice compared to how rushed it was. It simply lacked the emotion and connection needed to give a fuck. The underlying plot progression seemed logical.
