Still fucking hate what the anime did with Parasyte. Trying to make it more contemporary is one thing, but poorly redesigning all the characters, making Shin look like a generic faggot with the glasses, and throwing in pointless side characters for a bit more romantic tension ruined it. I watched both seasons a while ago and tried to watch the third recently but dropped it. My tolerance for shit was higher back when I had more free time but I remember being annoyed back when I watched the earlier seasons too.

They don't even put any fucking effort into the story. The pink dog saw the human because she just happened to open a mirror portal into a random dimension and happened to see this weird non-dog alien creature competing in a tournament and she fell in love with him? Really? Just have the fucking kid fall in a hole and wind up in another dimension or something. The try to make this the most self-inserty show possible which is fine but they go beyond the point of disbelief way too often for someone to realistically do that. The writers are monkeys.

Well you should go finish it. The end is very good. Here's what happens, though:

He gets a head injury which causes a blood clot in his brain. A few weeks later it causes him to lose consciousness and he wakes up with amnesia, losing all of his memories back to when he was like 14. So he thinks he's still in middle school playing basketball prior to his shoulder injury. Anyway, Tomoyo (who he doesn't remember) takes him around for a week to places that were important to them to try and get him to remember. He doesn't get his memories back but ends up falling in love with her again anyway. After he tells her she gives him the truth, that he actually loses all of his new memories every week and she's been taking him around like that for the past 3 years. But after a week he just forgets all of it, and he's about to forget this time as well; but this is the first time he's ever showed any feelings for her. She tells him there's a surgery he can get that will give him his memories back but it has a low success rate. He agrees to do it and says they should get married and then loses his memories again. He wakes up back in the hospital and doesn't remember her but sees the wedding ring and remembers that he loves her. After that he gets the surgery, which gives him all of memories back, but it was otherwise not successful. She spends time helping him go through physical rehabilitation, but he ends up falling asleep in his wheelchair and dying while they watch the sunset. Tomoyo ends up becoming something like an online grief counselor. There's a short scene after the credits where they reunite, apparently in the afterlife.
