Was Yamada ever considered for Miyazaki replacement anyway? Her movies are very different from what Ghibli make, not to mention the animation quality is like night and day between Ghibli and KyoAni. I never saw anyone outside of KyoAni circlejerks compare Miyazaki with Yamada.

I've never seen anyone, KyoAni fans or otherwise, compare Yamada to Miyazaki. Every time anyone crows about "the new Miyazaki", it's completely retarded anyway. It's always due to financial success, nothing to do with having genuine similarities as a film maker.

How are people so blind to the fact that Hosoda is a total hack? Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo was good because it was a pretty adaptation of a decent story and had Madhouse in charge of it. Summer Wars was just decent, and Wolf Children was one of the worst fucking movies I've seen in recent memory, even worse than Harmony. And even people who liked that abortion said Bakemono no Ko was even worse than that.
