I always find posts like OP's strange.

I don't think /a/ threads are suited for positive discussino OP, there's not that much to talk about except "yeah it's p.great my favorite character is X". Positive feels "reddit-ish" when you see it on 4chan for some reason, particularly for popular manga and anime, some here might remember early MHA manga discussions being completely different for obvious reasons. On the other hand, negative stuff has more room for discussion and constant back-and-forth shit flinging, with long arguments that may never actually end. What I'm saying is: you'll get shitposted to death by those who have a lot of complaints to talk about, and no one who actually likes MHA will come here to express, unless it's by replying to those posts from non-fans or to say who's the best waifu. To correctly start a discussion here, you can't just invite people to talk about why something's so good, you have to bait them by saying it or their female character of choice is shit, then hope an actual discussion will evolve from there.

Season 2 will stop after the next ~12 episodes, the manga has over 140 chapters atm with enough material for a 2-cour Season 3 and beyond. You'll probably have to wait a year or more for said season. With that knowledge, it's up to you and how much you want to follow the story. The anime is being extremely faithful to the manga though, down to the drawings, they take very few and tiny liberties with the source material so it's not too much of a different experience, and the mangaka is such an amazing artist that most of the time you're getting an equal or even higher art quality by reading it instead of watching it.

Yeah it's great. It's one of the only anime I've seen that got me to read the manga. I watched the first season of it, and initially I was just planning on waiting for all of the 2nd season to be made so I could watch it all at once, but I ended up getting really impatient and went in full force on the manga. I would recommend the manga, it's got some fantastic art and in typical fashion, is much farther along than the anime adaptation.

I thought the first two episodes were really great. The rest of season 1 wasn't as good but was still pretty good, and I was excited for season 2. I'm disappointed with season 2 overall, the entire tournament felt like filler and the writers kept jerking off Todoroki. I don't mind his personality but they make him so retardedly strong that he only loses when he wants to; everyone else has some sort of weakness, his is only getting cold which he can immediately get rid of if he feels like it. Really made me dislike the character. Also feels like Bakugou was only there to be the butt of jokes when really I gave much more of a shit about him because he actually struggles and overcomes in his fights.

Also sad that All Might has basically disappeared since he was my favorite character, but I understand he's not supposed to be overshadowing everyone else constantly.

I like it, Deku is a pretty nice main character and most of the secondary characters are good. I think it has the best heroines ever put into a battle shonen, sans probably Rukia. Art is nice and the OST is kicking, on top of it its arcs don't take forever to resolve, if this was by Kishimoto or Oda Stain would've took 100+ chapters before being defeated. It's refreshing to see.

That said, I don't think I'll keep following it, the more it goes on the more it shows a lot of the problems Naruto had. The most glaring one at the moment is the character of Bakugou, which from what I'm seeing it's the biggest deterrent that keeps some people to actually get into it.
Like, the best things about Deku and All Might is that, despite being a crybaby and a shit teacher (like most characters in those roles usually are in shonen), they know it, get called out on it, and try to do good by acknowledging it. Bakugou is your typical "too cool for school" Sasuke-ish character, but the TWEEST is that he too gets called on it and it backfires on him!!!... except not really, the consequences he faces are really really minor, they never seriously give him a serious disadvantage.
Also most of the villains are shit, either for who they are or for how they're used by the author, a pretty big flaw in a shonen about superheroes.

This manga/anime falls apart with the full introduction of AfO. Everything becomes powercreep quirks and the really broken quirks that manipulate time/space. The concept of Pro hero career starts feeling cheap and easily exploitable. The characters are ok I guess.

To follow up on this, characters from other stories have intangibility/phasing. Both Vision and Martian Manhunter can phase but the mechanic behind it is "density control" and "mass manipulation" respectively. They can only affect themselves much like Mirio. Mirio also has the slight disadvantage of not extending his power to his clothes. Shadowcat's phasing has been described as "quantum tunneling" which allows her to not only phase herself but outside objects as well, including other people. Unless a differing mechanic is established for Mirio he's much closer to MM and Vision which are not "space-time" powers.

Tomura is a terrible antagonist so far, but that was I think somewhat intended. All might was the mentor to Deku, helping him and covering for when he fucks up. Its because AM is there that Deku can grow. This also applies to Tomura. Tomura has the support of AFO early in the series, and AFO himself stresses that he is able to mess up at their point in time, as he is learning. Considering that AFO is currently in prison and AM is retired, things will now be Deku vs Tomura, and hopefully be more entertaining.

Dude, it's been established from the first few issues that the two most powerful men in japan and the men who were the top 10-20 on the entire planet were Allmight and the Omniquirk.

Allmight is basically Hulk/Thor tier brick who's more then likely a class 150 at most.
But Hori actually comes from a background a background where that kind of power is respected and not seen is totally ubiquitous.
So he uses that beyond basic power in interesting and awesome ways.

The omniquirk is just a guy who can steal quirks and stock pile an unspecified amount before he has to pass them off to someone else. His greatest strength is not his power but in how he is able to find steal gift and use powerful and weak quirks together all at once.
You'd never know what quirk he has at any given moment or what it is.

The problem is that Hiro is following the tried and true action shounen tropes and trying to shoehorn his own property into it.

Obviously MHA wears its shonen and american comic influences on its sleeve, but I really like the central conceit of the series being the twilight of the first generation of superheroes, and the beginning of the next generation. The coolest and strongest heroes are clearly the adults, but they know they're time in the spotlight is almost over so they're doing their best to prepare the superheroes of the future and leave some sort of legacy behind after they're gone. There's a neat bit of parity with All Might mentoring Deku and passing down his quirk, while Endeavor tries to engineer the ultimate superhero through sheer force of will. They're both trying to leave their mark and influence the future after they've lost their current relevance.

It's been a major point from the start that people can't just go out there and do that, so I don't expect to see much of it even now that the kids have their licences. A problem that I see that Deku's not synchronising with his quirk fast enough. We're almost 150 chapters in and he's gone from blowing up his arms to operating at <10% efficiency, he's too weak to play a significant role in recent plot events and frankly the shoot style is lame as hell. Deku's strategic mind is only as good as the tools he has at his disposal, and his own body is currently an insufficient tool outside of supervised training exercises.

This isn't Naruto.
The only danger todoroki was in was in of becoming a dick.
He wasn't going to be murderd by a rogue super robot or in danger of becoming a supervillian.
He was just not really fighting as hard as he should have.
He shouldn't have completely fucked his hands doing that. It just makes him looks retarded and masochistic.

As for the manchild, I don't see any good in him. I don't see anything good about the character as a villian.
I don't even think he's a serious threat let alone a comically bad or even entertaining fuck up.
He's just something that I've gotten used to seeing.

Also, what makes the last rescue arc interesting is that... Hori seemed to know this. And look where we are now in the manga.

Infiltrating a place, fighting lots of enemies of ascending power... People being left behind to fight their fights...

That's why I'm so suspicious of this arc. There is something big coming, and I don't think it's just a death of a supporting character. The raid arc seems TOO shonen to fit this series, and that has me worried.

Every arc before this have had some long-reaching effects on Deku or some other character. In contrast to all other arcs before this, this isn't something that has been long time coming. We knew that All Might's power was fading, we knew about Bakugo being hard on himself, we knew that Deku is prone to breaking his body... But what do we know about Overhaul and the Yakuza? Other than Overhaul's quirk and that they make bullets, probably out of Eri, Nothing. Nothing that ties them to the central cast, nothing that ties them into the characters who are there now.

And that's what scary to me about this arc.

Izuku should at least give back most of his power to allmight so that he can live longer but still maintain at least 1-5% and fully master that.

Could make up something about "It's a power that he's not ready for and one that is needed by someone who can wield it properly right now" or something.
We get allmight back..in short hour long bouts of course but we also get a limited deku(time and amount of power)who doesn't break every bone in his body when using his abilities and has to be more tactical and skilled when it comes to dealings with people.

Tactics and analysis is where he shines.

As for him being mirio's side kick? It would work best if they were partners. Mirior has no feats and hasn't shown himself as a capable solo hero yet.

It's a difference, but the idea of trying to turn a good guy into a villain (although Sasuke basically did all that himself) is nothing new.

See, it's simultaneously a rescue arc and a "villain tries to turn a good guy to the dark side" arc. Seeing how Hori loves Star Wars, having Bakugo become evil until he defects the bad guys at a critical moment would've been a delicious reference. And generally when enemies try to make a good guy defect, they do, at least until the end of the arc. Then X dramatic happens and the good guy turns back into a good guy. Another great example of this is Majin Vegeta from DBZ, which Hori also loves.

He knows what he's doing.

I thought this was going to be "Mumen Rider: The Show" at first. I didn't think it'd be so much about the main character being a star but being there to help out and do everything humanely possible to be a hero to everyone.

I like where the show actually went, but only because it's more action focused and entertaining which makes sense seeing as it's a shonen and not another type of show. Still though, I want the show I made up in my head now.

That actually would have been kind of neat.
The boy was already canonically preternaturally strong after only a half year of training.
Him giving him his hair not to pass his power but to fool the quirk sensing machines would have been kind of funny.

Him getting in and winning through his analytical mind and quirkless yet high as fuck strength would have been neat.

His overall fitness with quirks added to the mix was the worst EVEN WHEN he had OfA. He would've gained a ticket right out from Aizawa even if he managed to >pic related the entrance exam.

Of course, the story would've shifted into another direction, but I think the hole of "Does Deku have prep time?" would've been too deep, especially when we know that Hori likes Batman.
