This, I gave it a legitimate shot and watched way more than I should have.

Its actually shit. It fails on almost every level. The story is shallow and devoid of consequence. The characters are all very one dimensional and do not grow at all. Dialog is always superficial. Even the cuts and pacing are awful, with supposedly emotional moments cutting away as soon as the voice actors finish their line.

And don't even get me started on the godawful attempt to shoehorn MMORPGs into this show. Its central to the story but their take on MMO is basically a rule-free magical fantasy world that makes no sense. Okay maybe there is one rule, the faster you are pressing buttons the more powerful your character becomes. If they wanted to copy SAO they should have copied SAO.

I loved it, save for the CGI scenes at the internet cafe. They really were poorly done.
Although I must agree with the anon who complained about the missing content, namely the last two episodes. They skipped the team matches held against tyrannical ambition led by tyranny's vice captain, one of the four strategists, which played a major role. In his last team match against them, he picks a random team as 'losing' was part of his plan. Wenqing joined tyrannical ambition and they're banking lord grim, but allow them to kind of 1v1 and lord grim performs a nigh impossible counter and overpowers him to show that he's going to return and hasn't gotten any weaker.

It really bugged me in the story how they didn't just take the extra step and make it a future VR MMORPG. The characters are literally just sitting at PCs, and the gameplay scenes are all as if it's the VR fashion. Making it "futury" would also give credence to some of the character's more intense emotional relationship to the game, each other in relation to the game, and the celebrities of the game. Without that extra step, it all feels more hammy. People don't cry about videogame celebrities. Their personal lives and business contracts aren't national news.

So far the anime has been a big jerkoff fest about how awesome and sexy MC is. That's fine, but the show hasn't offered up much else in three episodes. Does it pick up later?

To be totally honest here the language, itself, sounds jarring. Not sure if it's the the voice acting or what, but it just sounds not as nice to the ears? When I was into LoL, I found a chinese show called Lu's time that was about League.

It was ok/good. There were some hype moments and the animation in some parts was awesome, also some Chinese humor that could be hard to swallow. The first season was better than the second one. The second season they made a lot of random stuff, it's like they were half way there and said ''Let's do something that is not about LoL''.

The chapters are short and the art get's better later on.

How could you get "sucked into a game", even if it was VR?
