Hey there. I scanned Sumire 16-sai on a whim since Mandarake had it for 100 yen. If there's an editor who's interested in re-doing the series with better scans (the current scans are like 1000px), send me a message. If someone wants to TL-check it, that'd also be nice. Otherwise, the scans will just sit here. I also got the opening color pages from the magazine. If you haven't read Sumire 16, go read it already. It's only 5 volumes long. I'd dump it, but I don't have a pass and don't feel like buying one nowadays. I'm off to scan Yamakami Masatsuki's Tanuki Man.

Sumire is a great read
What about 17?
are there many pages with text hiding the art?

I don't know, I'd have to re-read it. Probably just a lot of speech bubbles. It doesn't look redraw-heavy.

Can you post a comparison page with this, out of curiosity?
haha oh wow never thought I would see these again. I worked on them in the dark ages of manga scanlating. I always wanted to go back and redo the first 26 chapters or so since those were done with whatever shit raws I found.

Depends, but I'm willing. Can you show us some of your scans?
I know the author is taking the facts to his grave but what are the theories on the old man? why does he do what he does? we know hes been at it for a very long time and is willing to risk life and limb for his craft and that at least 1 other person who shares his bizarre hobby(?) exist.

Yeah the magazine scans are eye cancer. I'd like to redo the series with proper tank scans. The tanks are still cheaply-printed, though. I'll scan the rest of the series if there's a competent editor on board.

Here's a quick png of that page.
Batoto, IRC, or email works for getting ahold of me.

Dont don't think about it too much.
I must have deleted my original psds, but there is some redrawing but the art is simple enough. I remember the paper quality being okay so what you have there is probably as good as it gets.

It's about what you'd expect from your average weekly shounen tank.

i've gone digital a long time ago along with not reading as much shonen stuff so I'll take your word for it. what kind of scanner you have? i have some old tanks I want to digitize but mine has terrible bleed through no matter what i do.

9000f. Bleeding is usually a result of the paper itself, so put a black piece of paper behind your pages.
