What volume the latest translation at?

I just want to see volume.8 animated. I don't understand why they chose to animate some unused script that takes place 4 volumes after the ended. So people who only followed the anime won't understand who Lina is or the flashbacks references to volume.8 since neither was covered in the anime. Plus, newcomers who don't know anything about the series will get lost.
Volume.8 is a perfect place to grab both audiences since you don't have to know anything about Mahouka to understand volume.8 and the past for Tatsuya and Miyuki hasn't been told yet. But they chose to alienate the movie more to people who follows the novels or some parts of the manga that have adapted those arcs for some reason.
