So I happened to catch an episode of the anime while on vacation this past weekend. It seemed fun, if not a little edgy and try hard. Is this worth the read?

The first series is a good read, some try hard edginess here and there but at its core it just wants to tell a good tragedy.
Some humor and slice of life here and there to lull you to a false sense of security so the real SHIT hits alot harder. You know that old meme.
Its a neat ride with mostly enjoyable characters, like you usual depressed tsudere that the main character eventually stuffs like a Rabbit in heat and the ARCS that connect and build up to an ending that is action packed, somber and even optimistically insightful even if the fate of the main hero was rather grim.

What's really fun is rereading it, and realizing that the author spoils the story to you on the first chapter.

Whether you read the second series depends on you entirely, its better in some ways but has its own flaws when compared to the first one.

From the flashback scene last chapter, when Touka was asking Kaneki how Eto's mother carried her kids to term while they were lying in bed together, it seemed to me Touka was asking for a method in a roundabout manner. Not to mention she has Nishiki running burger delivery.

But then again, maybe Kaneki does know to some extent? I mean, fuck, he clearly isn't pulling out. His waifu being a ghoul doesn't mean she can't still get knocked up.

Also Touka dying would be basically rehashing the whole thing with Kuzen/Ukina and Arata/Hikari for a third time and it'd be quite a bummer seeing Kaneki fail to protect her despite being one of the strongest characters in the series. I don't really care about Touka herself but her death would just let Kaneki spiral down into the pits of edge again and wouldn't do much for his character besides forced despair.

I've been skimming over old chapters of TG:re, but so far only chapter 125 has one white and one black dot in the title. Not even Kaneki's awakening had it. It's always either 2 white dots, or 2 black dots.

I seriously believe ishida wont just make touka a plot device by dying. Kaneki is going to be put through the choice of choosing the mother or the child but will choose a third option which is not clear to us as of yet.

Only in the series title itself does it have one light and one black dot, obviously in reference to Kaneki (the re/king) himself. But here is where it gets weird. The way the dots are arranged is opposite to how they're normally arranged.
In every single volume cover, and chapter cover it is top black, bottom light. In chapter 125 however it is top light, bottom black. I think this means that Kaneki jr will have his OEG kakugan on the opposite side of his father. Does anyone here remember when Tatara said that Kaneki's kakugan was on the "wrong side"? Did we ever find out what he meant by that? Are right eye kakugan OEG in any way different from left eye ones?

This was not a "twist" if you were actually paying attention. The very first time we see art of her with the rest of the the Qs has the text "KILL" written on her. Then there was the entire "Mental herpes, shingles" Ishida drew for her which basically confirmed she was fucked up half a year before the "reveal." Toppled with the calendar art of her holding a bloody knife w/leering eyes and the rumors that she killed cats and her parents, it fell within expectation.

The "knocking up" part I will give you. But them becoming an item as obvious as fuck. The only "unpredictable" thing was Ishida actually drawing the sex as opposed to fading to black or leaving an implication.
