Because it's got a pretty good set up, genuinely well done hard sci-fi Macha into serious military/political story that's excellently done a creative. Blue hair and autism give things a little more immediate sense of the stakes and a little bit of levity that is drastically needed. They don't really make them like this anymore.

Ruthless as fuck, stabbing mech pilots with 12' knives, shooting hostages, punching women. that's just fucking great and the only complaint people ever manage to dredge up is the usual dumb fuck "oh the girl is comedically mean for no reason RAGE what a cunt she ruins the show" babycakes faggot crying.

I'd burn most of the last 100 shows since then in a kerosene fire to just keep FMP in reruns nonstop, let alone for another season (which would likely be a letdown since it wrapped up satisfyingly).

tldr people like it because it's fucking quality and harkens back a little bit too a much better time for anime and nobody has any complaints are not the same dumbass complaints that you can make about every single show ever made.

The Second Raid and Fumoffu. It's fun. The LNs are good as well.
