Well no, interesting enough Sonic is more like Saitama's 2nd disciple. And as mentioned in the past, the intention is for Sonic and Genos to both get stronger at about similar rates. Genos of course only get stronger in spurts after each upgrade. But the idea is that Sonic is S class already and is like Genos' opposite. genos has high firepower but kept getting hit. Sonic has limited damage potential but much harder to get hit. But they are meant to be roughly equal.

What I hope to see myself, is for Sonic to eventually surpass Flash without noticing, as he kept trying to defeat saitama, and then one day meeting Flash and realising he is now so much stronger than he thought he was.
