So what are some anime that actually would work well as live action movies or TV series?

Monster is an obvious one, too bad that didn't get off the ground. I think Gunslinger Girl could work well as a movie or a TV series, they don't have to actually follow the plot at all, just the concept alone would make for a good movie. A long Hunter x Hunter movie series based off the CA arc with a huge enough budget to do the CGI would be fun, but obviously would never happen.

Plenty of people would have said Death Note, but they managed to fuck it up. Honestly, I think that until they get directors who actually give half a shit about the source material (or who has watched it for more than five minutes) and don't try to market to niche and mainstream at the same time, every single attempt is going to be a new The Last Airbender/DBZ Evolution.

I'll be extremely surprised. They're keeping literally 0 of the characters' original personalities intact (Except probably Ryuk) and no changes made for the better.
Going on a small tangent, but has it actually been confirmed anywhere that the director watched the actual series? If he only saw the Japanese movie then a lot of the changing bullshit actually makes some sense because the movie changed a fair bit on its own. I just have this suspicion that this was the case, probably not though.

Although I think Shyamalan watched all of Avatar before making his steaming shit of a movie adaptation, so who knows if it would've even helped.
I'll admit I'm slightly more optimistic about the idea of a Cowboy Bebop adaptation because of the setting. It seems like it should be difficult to fuck up, but if you'd asked me how they could've ruined DN before any news came out about it, I wouldn't have come up with half of what actually happened, so there's that.
