The VN got me really hyped for Dies irae, even if it sucks I want to see some scenes animated.

I already said, the heavy-handed approach. The focus should be the characters, but the direction does not allow this, with so much cuts, useless artsy shots, etc. Rather than a depressed young man, the MC looks like an annoying emo fan of Evanescence. Instead of a warm family, the sisters looks like annoying crazy bitches. And when all of this is put together at the same time, the tonal shifting becomes a mess.

The manga is more subtle in this regard.
