Eradicating a species that's encroaching too much on your own is something outside of good and evil morality entirely, its just something you gotta do to survive. Black and White doesn't hold up there. It was something necessary for humans to survive as dominant, but I guarantee the more you try to rationalize that one with morality the more it just won't mesh. Because it brings humans back into the dirt as just animals, rather than higher thinking species or good and bad.

Netero saw this and understood he could become either the gentle ant man that handled a blind girl with care or the blood thirsty conqueror who was killing people for no reason. Maybe he could be convinced, maybe he could come to live in harmony with humanity, but that wasn't his job, he was there to kill Meruem not talk, so he just attacked.

Through that Meruem kinda swing more into the Ant inside him and saw only some humans were worth keeping around, he would regulate humanity into Ghettos and only take from them what he needed.

Why do people have such difficulty understanding the CA arc?

Call it a talent, or a soul, but humans have "something" that the chimera ants do not that drive them, put passion into action, and allow them to accomplish their desires at all costs. "Humanity's infinite potential for evolution" as the line in the OP was translated in the anime. Nen is basically the manifestation of this talent, hence why some talented people who never actually learn of nen use it unconsciously. Of course, humans have this in different degrees, some humans are incredibly talented, like Gon or Komugi, others not so much - the vast majority of humans can't even use nen. This is why Meruem can never beat Komugi despite being objectively more intelligent IQ-wise. Komugi put all of her soul into winning gungi, even placing a restriction on her life - in doing so she far surpassed the biological limits of humanity, something only humans can do.

Meruem began to learn that there is value in something outside of pure biological excellence, in "strength." However, he didn't understand the full picture, he just began to realize that some beings can accomplish things in spite of not being biologically excellent. Before this, his ideology was basically "if you're not strong you deserve to die" now, when facing Netero, it was "I will keep some talented humans alive." Meruem was still planning on subjugating the human race. So you could say Netero was a hero (in the form of martyr) for humanity.

Immediately before getting nuked Meruem finally understood that humans were capable of something that he simply was not. Before this he had only dealt with individual humans, the rose bomb was the product of human society as a whole, the sum total of all our evolution, or talent. Put into creating a WMD. He gave up, because even if he could survive it (he can't), they would just find some new way to kill him.

It's left ambiguous as to whether the surviving ants would be able to learn this talent.

Gon was him trying to save his only friend, but outside of that he's going to try and solve things himself. Plus if he did use an order he immediately tips his brother off about the wish loophole and then he has to go against his family. If he did that at the start of the arc or in the middle before he removed the needle and refined God-speed he's fucked because his brother will rape his asshole.

It's just memes that have been spouted for years. Yeah, this. The one criticism I have of Togashi's writing as a whole is that he doesn't seem to care if things logically/physically make sense, just if they make sense from a writing/emotional standpoint (i.e. they have the proper consequences and limitations).

Some people just get left with a sour taste when they watch the build up and release of an arc get swept under the rug by such a convenient and out of the blue plot device, removing some of the emotional impact from the scenes. Also just because you might pull the asspull card every now and then doesn't mean you have to hate the series or necessarily even think the asspull was bad. The Nanika/Alluka thing is just something you might see for the first time and think to yourself "oh well that was kind of random, wish they would have come up with something a little different than that, but oh well, I'll keep watching / reading because I still like the series". Yes, whether or not people like Hisoka reviving depends on whether or not they think he survived because of plot armor, or if he survived without sufficient buildup.

Alluka has been known as an existing charater since the Zoldyck arc. And is the only Zoldyck sibling to not appear prior to this point. (Even Kalluto appears in the Z arc and York Shin) We also get an entire arc building up Alluka instead of her just happening like Rubber nen did.

This is mainly what I was trying to get it, for all the asspull discussion in general. I still love the series but you can understand why people bicker and critique some of the more "red flag" scenarios. It's all fiction anyways but the arguments always stem from how creatively you can write yourself out of a hole, and HxH had some really tough holes to climb itself out of, but I cant say I was ever truly disappointed
