On one hand, I always enjoy the banter and posturing of the enemies before Saitama blows them out, but on the other hand, having it happen completely off screen shows how even that scenario has become routine and we the audience are confronted with how we've manufactured our own expectations for how the story should progress.

I couldn't stop laughing, that and of course the following jokes were all top tier and played perfectly. I have to say, I didn't care for the Tournament at first but they executed the humor incredibly well, and had genuine tension. I say that knowing it was going to end okay. Now if the monsters actually HAD killed pretty boy mctoothless that would have utterly turned my expectations on my head. But it would have been pretty dark and a serious tone shift. The series has thousands of people getting blown up instantly or crushed or what have you, but never viscerally, it's just implied by the wanton destruction and reports.
The amount of brutality alone in the last few chapters was pretty shocking. Bit of blood and gore here and there, but it's the monsters dying an instant death usually. Not a dude being beaten within an inch of his life, having his hair ripped, and all his teeth knocked out before breaking his legs and arm. Like shit, I thought he was a bit of a cunt but the beatdown he got was brutal.

It's funny because of the tension up until then. This whole tournament and the asshole's character was all about setting up the end of the last chapter. There's been several chapters now just really laying it on thick with how they broken him down again and again. And then Saitama shows up and just saves everyone's ass in a few pages again. Suddenly kung-fu asshole has a turn around and sees the light. And Saitama still can't be bothered to really give a shit about it.
