Yamada is very good at directing characters, but honestly Ishihara is just great at directing series. I don't care what people think about Phantom World, Ishihara is great at making shows iconic. Fumoffu, Hyouka, and Disappearance are some of my favorite KyoAni shows but after that Takemoto really became mediocre as fuck. I really believe that if they get Ishihara one good source material, he'd make a huge hit again.
