Close to beating snk by volumes??? Kingdom doesn't even sell close to 1 million.

btw snk top all the digital volume sales, so its also due to a lot of fans moving to digital, not to mention this series only release 3 volumes a year compare to weekly series that release 4 to 5 volumes a year.

The series is selling much lower now, but you have to be fair and give it some props for still holding on in the top 5.

btw only one piece, snk and hxh sells over 1 million volumes at this moment.

Wrong, Kingdom volumes have been selling a million now it just doesn't sell as fast as Attack on Titan yet it does have legs.
>btw snk top all the digital volume sales, so its also due to a lot of fans moving to digital
This is a worthless point to bring up since there's no actual data to support this or numbers so whenever someone says "its because they move to digital" 9 times out of 10 they're talking out their ass.
>The series is selling much lower now, but you have to be fair and give it some props for still holding on in the top 5.

Not really, it was just inflated for the longest time until the boost ended then sales started to drop

Lets also forget the limited edition sales that is also not included with the regular edition salesl

I brought up the digital sales because there is no way for both of us to know the actual sales number, so its wrong for me to bring it up, when it could legit reason for snk sales to drop like this.

But anywyas my point is that the series isn't a fad, and its still doing pretty well even after 4 years, not to mention it has been in the top 5 since 2013, even though its a monthly manga which has a huge disadvantage compare to weekly series that releases 4-5 or even 6 volumes eg. nanatsu no taiza.

btw http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-11-30/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-volume-2016/.109353

Bullshit! Kingdom best volume sold 700k and this was the end of 2016, its pretty obvious the per volume sales is increasing base off the first half sales, but saying it sells 1 million, when it actually never has is bullshit and you know it.

I think this was affected by the extremely long hiatus as few people wouldn't have bought the volumes because of uncertainty of the series reaching a good conclusion. It still sold really well though. Could've hit the million mark if not for the hiatus. Hope this motivates Ashihara to come back.
>>
>>157935959
I said series, anon. The series with volumes above it are almost all from the same series that outdid it in >>157934807. Its gross performance and per-volume performance are basically equivalent, it did about the same as the first one suggested.
>>
>>157933840
>this series only release 3 volumes a year compare to weekly series that release 4 to 5 volumes a year
and that is because the series is monthly. so the author has that advantage going for him to maintain quality. I'd like to see him to the same while writing a weekly manga. so the disadvantage due to only 3 volumes selling is nullified by this advantage of being monthly.
>>
One Piece has really taken a hit from where it was a few years back. In 2011 it sold 40 million.

Crazy that even still nothing comes close to touching it.
>>
>>157936360
>quality
Not him, but come on, you're in a discussion about sales, regarding mostly battle shounen. Bringing quality into it is just silly.
>>
>>157936844
That was from people buying old volumes to catch up. Its falling back to its normal numbers now. Basically it was outdoing itself at the time.
>>
>>157936360
Isn't this discussion about sales? I brought up the fact that snk releases 3 volumes compare to weekly series which means lower sales.

You just lost this argument with that statement.

The thing is, anime adaptations of manga are meant to boost manga sales. The ones in the list are already doing super well sales-wise so there isn't much of a point to keep making anime adaptations of them.
Shingeki no Kyojin had an incredible boost due to the anime though (which also sold really really well) so it's only natural that they continue. Not sure why they decided to make only 12 episodes this time around though.

So anime are more than just manga boosts otherwise one piece and conan would have ended on season 1.

The really impressive thing there is Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii, which is a manga-original, has no adaptations, and only comes out biweekly in an irrelevant web magazine.

>>157938699
One Piece and Conan's anime have started before the 2000's and even before the entire craze of having 25+ TV series per season though. They constantly do really well in TV rankings even now too so it's only natural that there's interest in continuing making anime episodes, they're really popular.

Is Goblin Slayer literally the only good title on this list?
>>
>>157941476
Basically the lower the common denominator the more it will sell in general. Ecchi always sells better than hentai, this is why they have bigger budgets, the same applies with Shonen vs Seinen. It's not an absolute, but it's a general rule simply due to how shonen is read by many more people and easier to get into.

What's up with Toshokan Sensou's popularity?
I don't remember the anime being all that great.
>>

not him but the point he was trying to make was that if snk was weekly, it would most likely be of lower quality and never have been as big of a hit as it is now. Thus the advantage of being monthly somewhat cancels the disadvantage.

If I had to guess, in the west manga's more popular with young adult audience than with kids and in general they prefer more outwardly mature content.
What I'm saying is American teens are edgelords and are too afraid to enjoy something so full of genuine enthusiasm and optimism as One piece.

It takes Shingeki to release like 10 volume in a year to outsell 2 volume of one piece.

No shingeki author didn't create 10 volume in a year, they simple have enough magazine release to create that much of volume release.
And they release it enmasse during the height of is popularity.
>>
>>157951496
The Strong World movie. It was extremely popular (made $48 million at box office compared to $8-9 million for the previous movies). It attracted a lot of newreaders who bought all the volumes available.

I wonder if the cost of the tickets were counted as sales because they included chapter 0. I remember hearing about some musician pulling that trick, when he organized a huge tour and all the people buying tickets to it also received his new album, which was then counted as album sales and skyrocketed him in the charts.

What you are saying is bull, people were simple buying the older volumes, to catch up, just like one piece sales sky rocketed back in 2010 from 14 million in 2009 to 32 million in 2010.

snk sell 2 million per volumes, while one piece sells 3 million per volume.

Biggest selling manga of the magazine its published in and it isn't under the effect of an anime/movie boost (and it's only had 1 terrible game), will probably slip into the top 5 when it gets S2 or a movie.

Hard to compete with Jump series when they get insane cross promotional marketing across a whole bunch of entertainment forms.
