Considering how got popular only here with others bandwagoning... he's not wrong
You can do better than that, anon.
He doesn't say that the West hates KF, he says that the West don't have very high view of KF unlike Japan.
Fair, considering that the West's "innocent cartoon animals" niche have been filled since Old Walt made Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
So does Japan. But ultimately, the West have a hard time accepting 3DCG
I'm not sure what you are trying to say. That the show got popular because more people started watching it? That is how every single show that ever gets popular gets popular anywhere in the world.
That's nice, but can you reply to someone else next time? Thanks.
Sure but it demonstrates that they don't necessarily need retain the same physical appearance as long as they are alive, Kaban is alive and her physical appearance is changing.
Do you think if Kaban took her gloves off she would just grow new gloves eventually? Also do we really have any evidence that Friends don't grow at all, never ever? Ceruleans can grow and combine and they're powered by the same shit.
Her appearance is changing to match her old one.
I don't think there's anything to imply if clothes would regrow if they were removed for a long period of time, Kaban grows hers back because they disappeared when she was eaten by the cerulean.
>therefore their body are less stable and can go bigger
I assume this is just speculation on your part because I have never seen it mentioned elsewhere?
Her appearance is changing to match her old one but what is to say that its impossible for it to change in other ways? The fact that her appearance changes to match her old one after she was eaten by the Cerulean doesn't necessarily preclude her appearance changing in other ways due to other reasons does it?
We have evidence that Friends all end up looking like young girls, doesn't matter how old the original animal was.
There's no solid proof that they don't age -after- becoming Friends though, aside from an aged one never being shown.
I didn't even intend to go full tofu on this I just thought it would be neat if Kaban grew up and became more confident as time goes by. Moving into like a leader position or something.
How does this make you feel?
>I just thought it would be neat if Kaban grew up and became more confident as time goes by. Moving into like a leader position or something.
She more or less did by the end of the series.
The way I see it, westerners outside anonymous asylums like 4chan have a problem with peer pressure dictating what they're allowed and not allowed to enjoy. The west's immediate reaction to KF was negative due to the bad 3DCG, so the MAL-adjusted hivemind ran with the standard, unwavering "it's creepy" narrative and never looked back. Now it's too late to even "ironically" enjoy it, and publicly stating that you like it might get you labeled a weirdo. Best to shut up forever and claim you've never seen or considered seeing it just to stay with the in-crowd. Maybe even take part in the shaming yourself, if you feel the need to prove yourself.
The japanese seem to be a bit more lax on the whole instant judgement thing, allowing the better points of works like KF to shine through even if things start off rocky. Happened with Girls und Panzer, too; the first episode(s) rubbed westerners the wrong way, so to this day the show is seen as "creepy" and liking it is wrong. And yet, it's at least a decent show with plenty of good points, and a huge success among the japanese who were willing to look past the initial misunderstandings, let the show explain itself and suspend their disbelief.
It depends on what killed the humans off.
If it was just something like warfare, there can certainly be survivors. But if it's something like a strain of some new deadly contagious disease, wiping out humanity would be cake.
Yep, and several episodes later on they openly praised the better aspects of the show. Westerners looked at the bad CG and decided that from that point on, enjoying any aspect of it is wrong and weird, end of discussion.
Just looking at their thread
>固まった表情 モッサリした編集 下手糞な声優 これはCG学校の卒業制作？
Stiff facial expressions
Editing lacks style
Voice actors are shitty
Is this someones CG school graduation project?
You're again sprouting this meme. Sure, without popularity in Japan it wouldn't be so big, but it would still have threads and fans on /a/. And japanese explosion started between eps 4 and 5.
I just wanted to sate my heels fetish, not see ponyshit. T-t-thanks.
I've been here loving the show since the first episode, I saw it happen live. Early reactions were poor but people slowly started enjoying the show, then the popularity explosion happened and everyone was surprised at what was happening in Japan, somewhere between and . Following that, our threads become considerably more active as well.
>Following that, our threads become considerably more active as well.
I recall how the threads were around episode 2
>Look, someone drew a fanart!
>Anon, it's from the director's twitter
I don't think its accurate to say the show got popular here only because it was popular in Japan though. That can be read as implying that people like or pretend to like the show because it was popular in Japan.
I think its much more accurate to say that the Japanese popularity drew attention and curiosity to the show. This lead more people to watch the show and find that they liked it and thus is became more popular.
The fanbase was already growing quite naturally though before that.
I started watching at the episode 5-6 point but I went back and read some of the older threads. The episode 3 thread had people starting to like the show but being confused over why they actually liked it.
Ah, the problem was because nyaazi doesn't have it, Pantsu was conveniently down when I tried checking it too but it seems to be fine now so I found it.
Time to enjoy some huge kemomimi tits.
I had a dream last night that I was watching Season 2. First episode was S1 friends getting to the island and going SUGOI over the new S2 friends.
Except there was no Jaguar.
So then I went on this thread to complain.
What a terrifying nightmare
What if her outfit slowly morphs into Mirai's?
Still plenty of patricians, even then.
I feel an uncontrollable need to touch Serval's soft and fluffy ears.
That's perfectly normal.
What would happen if you actually dropped Sandstar on 7chi? She's not exactly human anymore.
Are we as the viewer supposed to self insert as Kaban?
She starts off in the same kind of position most people find themselves in, existentially uncertain. Then an ideal woman like Serval who is always impressed with everything you do, happy and energetic shows up and you go on a great adventure together and become a pair. The you eventually take your rightful place as the hero.
This is advanced.
I just want to squeeze her breasts and ask her to deduce why I did so.
What was your most favourite part of the show? Pic related is mine
I don't mean you are literally there imagining you are Kaban while watching if that is what you are thinking. But that because of the parallels that can be drawn in watching it you are essentially experiencing those things. If you swapped yourself out for Kaban I am sure its an experience most that loved the show would love to have. She is a relatable and similar character to the average viewer at first in many ways. Then becomes a confident leader with tons of friends like many watching the show might wish to be. It's kind of like wish fulfilment in that sense.

This is the exact attitude that makes majority of anime's audience pathetic faggots. If you're not happy with your life then do something proactive for once (not necessarily practical) instead of wallowing in self-pity and wishing you were someone you'll never be.
Characters in good kind of fiction are carefully engineered to be the subject of or assist in telling a compelling story. Watching/reading a good story should be an enjoyment in itself; if it isn't then it's probably shit, at least from your tastes' perspective.
>you will never wake up on a clear sunny morning at japari safari
>you will never hang out with friends
>you will never eat delicious japari buns with them
This world was a mistake.
A Jaguar would be best girl and best boy imo
Anyone know when the full ost will be coming out?
You know what must be done.
Come on, anon, they are waiting for you!
So is everyone.
I'm not an expert on killing myself to go to alternate worlds.
No one is born an expert, anon. All you need is practice.
Welcome to Japari Park friend
Would Wolf agree to do all the lewd things in bed that she draws for herself?
Do you call friends by their english or japanese names?
Research into very pressing concerns.
Arai-san rolls off the tongue better than saying Raccoon.
Who was surprised when it was revealed Kaban was a Friend in the last episode?
Personally I had my suspicions and there was definitely hints and foreshadowing throughout the series but I still wasn't 100% sure they would go down that route until it actually happened.
Only Toki for some reason. Have always liked Bag over Kaban, and Coon feels better than Arai mentioned along with Fennec. One name in moon and the other in English feels terribly off.
My first guess was she being Mirai's daughter
Based on the pages posted from the new guidebook last thread, it seems like they're 100% sandstar.
Friends in general are influenced by the culture of the local where they were created.
The mythical Friends are described as "imaginary animals" in the Guidebook and their entire body is composed by Kemonoplasm, the material that composes just the clothing and animal parts of other Friends.
Two options, mythical creatures from unknown animals to literal gods have always existed and the Sandstar can affect them like any other creature.
Or the Sandstar can bring pictures and other artistic expressions of living things to life and transform them.
Either way the Sandstar is op as fuck
Does that mean that your OC donut steel animal can become a Friend as long as a good enough picture of it gets hit by Sandstar? Can Sonic become a Friend like this?
Silly anon, guys can't be cute.
I don't like this tofu.
Save us Tatsuki!
Didn't suprise me at all actually, I assumed episode 1 that it was amnesiac isekia and stayed open to that revelation but by episode 3 it was obvious she was just a human friend
There's a NOT-Pink Panther Friend called Peach Panther and the cardgame versions of Roadrunner and Coyote are based on the Looney Tunes characters.
I'd guess they'd need to be actually culturally known though rather than random ocs.
>>I'd guess they'd need to be actually culturally known though rather than random ocs.
Does he qualify?
Too good to be true
This is the cutest paring ever made.
Maybe that anon is into
I would give my left arm for a marriage episode.
We know you don't get pussy.
Just hanging around the fort with a bunch of pumped up warrioresses must be sweet.
>Moose invites you to a sparring session
>Completely fucks you up because she's way too and can't control her strength
How about you watch the show first then come back
Aside from the "Beep!" shirt, Roadrunner's quote is teasing Coyote about how she needs to go faster if she doesn't want to be late, while Coyote talks about being fixated on Roadrunner.
They're literally humans
>way too and can't
Meant to say "way too rough".
They're sandstar constructs
It's like a sentient onahole, not beastiality.
Are you saying that they can't
If they were both wearing suits, how could they decide who would princess-carry who?
Could there be an Alien based Friend then like ET, Predator or a Vulcan?
I don't think I would mind it if they did animate it all in this quality.
But now they have bothered to set up an in universe reason for the tails clipping through the skirts I can't imagine they are going to change the animation quality. Otherwise they are going to have to explain why they don't clip anymore.
Would Emperor be the same height as her non-Sandstar brothers?
There were three different Kemono threads made during the downtime, in place of one general thread. You'd have to be an idiot to think that that is an indication of its unpopularity among pay users. Besides, though the quality of the OP varies, but the replies have a disproportionately high amount of shit tier shitposts, so it's not like pay-users are a superior breed of ubermensch either.
>cat pictures always forget ocelot
why must she suffer
She had her chance to shine, but she was sleeping at the time and no one wanted to wake her up.
Whatever dude. In addition to the CG, that's why it's not popular. Don't reply if you want, this isn't bait. I don't care. I actually enjoyed KF but it could be improved in many ways.
>This shit is exactly the same as Kancolle and Senran Kagura where you can pick your waifu from a bunch of waifus. That's about the only appeal of Kemono Friends and the west won't have it.
This is literally the only appeal of modern Japanese entertainment, rare exceptions aside.
And yet you say stuff that makes it clear you've not watched the series at all.
>I actually enjoyed KF but it could be improved in many ways.
Such as? Tell us about your masterful ideas anon.
You mean the one where its just a replacement term for cute girls? I don't think anyone would deny that cute girls are part of the shows appeal anyway. Obviously there is far more to it than that though. Nearly every show thats released has cute girls. Nearly every show that is released flops.
Who would win
>Tsuchinoko are described as being between 30 and 80 centimetres in length, similar in appearance to a snake, but with a central girth that is much wider than its head or tail, and as having fangs and venom similar to that of a viper. Some accounts also describe the tsuchinoko as being able to jump up to a meter in distance.
>According to legend, some tsuchinoko have the ability to speak and a propensity for lying, and they are also said to have a taste for alcohol. Legend records that it will sometimes swallow its own tail so that it can roll like a wheel, similarly to the "hoop snake" of American legend.
>a central girth
So Tsuchinoko is a fatty? No wonder she wants to hide.
I like to think that her putting her hands in her pocket is too make it seem like she's fatter.
not him, but Kaban would make a great mother
I just finished watching it, and I want some answers from you guys
Is Kaban chan a clone of some random girl, a clon of midori or a dead kid?
what are the cerulean? magic magma + inorganic matter?
All the people asking these type of questions makes me realize how dumb the average viewer is and explains why so many shows have info-dumps all the time because it's impossible for the average viewer to understand such things only through implications and have to be outright be told of them to understand them.
In no particular order-
Ezo Red Fox
Please forgive the rude friends, the waiting for S2 is making them less than pleasant.
With that said, they are correct, your questions were answered in the show. And I guess this is a good moment to tell you that the show can handle very well a few rewatches.
Now, to answer your question, Kaban is infact the result of Marai's hair and sandstar, making her a "human friend". (There is some speculation about what exactly is Kaban after she was eaten by the Cerulean)
And we don't understand exactly what are cerulean at this point. Other than they are the result of inorganic matter + sandstar, however, it's not known if to create a cerulean is needed a specific form of sandstar and/or inorganic matter.
