It's just a case of poor powerlevel escalation. The thing is, the dungeons actually got easier as the story went on so Hajime was pretty much breezing through all obstacles near the end of the story.

But then the final arc suddenly throws literal god-tier enemies at him that are so fucking powerful nothing he can do can surmount the gap, which renders all the powerleveling he did prior to this kind of pointless. But the story pacing demanded that he kill them immediately anyways, so the author had to hand him a constant stream of bullshit powers to finish the job.
