Macross 7

Haven't been watching much anime lately. Seen some Kodocha a while ago, but still at episode 5. And still at episode 29 of Turn A Gundam, same as weeks ago.

Anime is hard. I can never watch it, because I'm never in the mood.

Been thinking about the last episode of the second YKK OVA lately, maybe I end up finishing the anime soon.

I read pic related this week, it was pretty satisfying, although it definitely overcomplicated Shion and Mokuren's relationship more and more over their backgrounds. Mokuren was much better than Arisu, though she was okay. I lol'd heartily when Shion and Gyokuran were in huge repressed love with each other.

Is Oniisama e growing in popularity, or do I just notice it now because I actually know it exists?

Maison Ikkoku. It's not as good as Pic related, but it's way better than Ranma.

161 GB was probably the largest size torrent i have ever downloaded. But now that the Blue-ray of Urusei Yatsura is completed i will have to re-watch it, haven't watched any of it since mid 2000's. 272gb torrent size will take a while.

My plan to encode most or all of the better.php AB DVD rips is probably gonna stop soon, the rest are either live action or Chinese series. Perman is probably next. Finished Uchuu space patrol recently, up on AB and the Youtube account.

I've been making my way through Dunbine, it's interesting how many tropes of isekai anime were already there 34 years ago. Not that it's at all a bad example; if it came out today I'd still love it, having the MC switch sides a couple episodes in is an interesting twist, the politics of the fantasy world have more depth than in a lot of modern series, and I'm a sucker for the genre anyway.

But I still laugh at Tomino's naming sense (or lack thereof).

That's where you're wrong, the name may be Japanese but the idea was solely British going as far back as Narnia or even earlier than that. There may be other cases but I'm pretty sure Narnia is what popularized it in fiction. But still pretty coincidental two ideas originating in Britain(isekai/NEET), have become synonymous with Japanese culture.

How is Dunbine anyway? Was planning on making it the next non-Gundam series by Tomino I watch after I'm done with Turn A.

I watched Maison Ikkoku a couple of months ago, and argued a bit about it here.

I don't have anything else pre 2000 still on my backlog, hell, my backlog is pretty small right now, I've watched pretty much everything I wanted.


I did download LOGH, I'm kind of put off by the low quality and yellow subs though, is it really that good or just a meme?

Kinda like Macross 7 but better paced (Macross took like half of the series to get good).

Last Tomino I watched was Zambot 3 which was awesome, good character development and unique soundtrack. Turn A is pretty comfy so far, I love how he's made us forgotten it's a Yoshiyuki Tomino anime until death and destruction starts happening. Poe best girl so far.

I got really into it, but I only had the first 25 episodes downloaded, so had to stop there. Didn't have the storage space to download the rest either, but since then I did stream a few episodes, seen 29 episodes so far. And now I'm kinda stuck on how to download anime at all, now that all the sites are gone, so even though I now have the storage space, I may still have to stream the rest. Which is a problem, because most of Turn A Gundam, I saw while on the train or bus, where there is no internet to stream from. So to continue, I have to be at home, and change my habits for Turn A Gundam.

I know it has predecessors (and Narnia's not the oldest, Alice in Wonderland and Barsoom and probably some other stuff predate it) but this is the oldest example in anime I'm aware of, and it's still interesting to see how things have evolved over the years.

Macross 7 is my 2nd least favorite, I don't feel like it really paid off. Turn A on the contrary was a wild fucking ride, even with the early pacing issues.

With Macross I only dislike Plus more because I absolutely hate the cast, but the direction was a lot better than 7.

7 has GOAT soundtrack though.

Currently watching Vifam and the show is pretty solid. I expected to find the kids annoying but outside Kent they're normally enjoyable. I also like how they take the time to acknowledge that space is both huge and empty.

Such an amazing masterpiece. The first five or six episodes were a bit too cheesy but then it quickly begun improving and it basically never stopped. Osamu Dezaki was a god, his style incredible, I need to watch more of his stuff.

I can't believe I got into this, but the original was a gorgeous work. I'm now trying to find the novels, too. Yes, I did try to watch the new series... And I just couldn't get into it like before. The timeline was all over the place and the sensuality was few and far between.

Natsuki Crisis and sukeban deka are the only ones i can think of when it comes to this because of how straightforward it is. Modern brawlers are too silly(ex. ikkitousen had more ecchi than brawler fights, and ben-to is full of bad femdon fetish).

Watched a lot of old Ghibli films which was quite fun, half way through the first season of Ashita No Joe and I quite like it. Also downloaded F, an interesting F1 themed anime, which is apparently highly technical and detailed, but suffers from being translated from Italian to English, and the Italian translation took a lot of liberties with the original dialogue. I might just read the manga if that has a better translation.

Not in the mood to watch anime or play videogames, not having a job is killing me

Started this last week cuz i wanted something easy to watch before going bed and surprisingly is quite fun so far

I have watched the first 6 episodes and the show seems quite dumb but at least it's not cliche (for now) and it feels like it doesn't try to be the ultimate shonen where the MC is trying to save the universe with his crushing worlds powers

Also looks super cheap but it really fits how lighthearted is the show

Most of his works from that era up until his death (i.e. The Snow Queen and the Clannad movie) are really meh.

Thoughts on the LOGH translation? I've read the first book which seemed a little clunky but I liked how it felt like I was reading an Asimov book in places. Flipped through the third book and the part where Rhinehard is lamenting over Sigfried is pretty well written.

Currently watching whatever old OVA I find interesting enough. Right now I'm watching Midnight Eye Goku. Kinda stupid but damn I love this settings, I can watch scenes with futuristic looking car driving through cyberpunk city at night forever.

I recently watched Tekkaman Blade II without seeing the TV show it follows. Is it worth watching? The OVA had really nice animation so I'm not sure if I want to watch what might be just a drawn out low budget Tekkaman kills aliens with his super move for 50 episodes.
