The bump limit is too high and makes the place look stagnant. /a/ was pretty fast in like 08, and still only had a 250 bump limit, and the only general thread was strike witches or nothing. People treated discussion like it was on the fly, and if you missed it you should have been lurking more. Now topics and threads are generally closer to we had before 4chan, ironically. We've gone full curcle back to BB forum days where you wake up the next day and check the updates in all the threads you like.

So I say that's garbage, and we should lower the bump limit back to 250 or max 300. The fact that most people use the catalog now also makes huge bump limits unnecessary.

And bring back visible sage.

Why is this garbage still up, got quickly removed last time. Get to it you useless do it for free fucks, no one will lay you off for deleting this dogshit.

I think we should adopt a similar system to 2ch.

One board for currently airing anime /a/, and one board for anime that has finished airing /a2/ and one for everything else /a3/ (industry discussion, news unrelated to airing or old anime, more general topics).

"Generals" are allowed to persist on on /a/ for a show from maybe a couple of weeks before they air until a couple of weeks after they finish. At this point posting threads about that show on /a/ becomes forbidden and must move to /a2/ where generals can persist for as long as they want forever.

If you want to shitpost about a show rather than discuss it like an adult then you are allowed to make a thread for that on both /a/ and /a2/ and they can persist as generals following the same rules as regular threads.

Any topics that don't fall into the above two boards but are anime related still can be discussed on the board for all anime topics.

/a/ is already slow enough as is, any thread takes from one to three hours to get bumped off depending on the time of the day and general activity on that day (with weekends being usually faster than weekdays, obviously). There's no need to split /a/, much less any need to separate anime discussion for ongoing shows and finished ones, especially just because of fear for the "general" boogeyman. Even the "generals" for currently airing shows have plenty of time to discuss new episodes on the day they air.

I wouldn't disagree with that but a show that is popular enough to sustain 24/7 discussion after airing when there is actually discussion going on should be allowed to have that discussion still. So I think really it just takes careful moderation. To determine when that discussion has gone away altogether and just become an image dump with the same comments over and over.
