Benio was put on a bus, MC is even more boring without her around, the whole current arc is a bore and Benio is in a much more interesting situation right now, they're already paired up but the author keeps introducing girls and even a trap, nothing is really going anywhere. It just feels like filler for the last few months.

Because it's easier to do. Kicking only works if the person is doing a flying one since if the MC did this in a shounen he/she would look silly.
