I have a catgirl keychain (Rinslet from "black cat". Pic related) from like 2006. Used it for about 4-5 years and the color never faded.
It wasn't painted but was made of colored rubber. It was on a key rings with like 9 keys rubbing the keychain daily and when you clean it these still look good as new.

The better keychains are like a higher grade version of those colored erasers you had as a kid where the colored rubber was an actual thick layer. But like an eraser they do get dirty from handling.

I use E6000 for PVC repairs, it's pretty strong stuff and dries clear. I just use a toothpick to apply small amounts on the trouble spots then compress the parts together for about a minute.

It's industrial-grade stuff so the fumes can be overwhelming, just do the gluing in a well ventilated area and you'll be fine though.
