Is she going to be redeemed?
What did Oda's staff mean by this?
Do you think she's going to survive?
how is she annoying in the manga? what makes her annoying in the anime is Toei constantly showing her react to things. Like Toei running every character quirk into the ground.
>strongest country in the world
>defeated by a 5 years-old fat kid
I'm betting that they broke her so hard that it went around and just made her go berserk and reactivate her armor haki right as they try to kill her. Things are going along too smoothly for me to think this will work.
I feel like it's better if Charamel survives but abandons Big Mom.
Like the one kid that went beyond her compassion. Plus I feel like even in her rampage she'd remember killing Charamel, or it will be Charamel who gets her the sweetbread.
It's both a fictional world, where whatever Oda wants to be the norm is the norm, as well as the in-universe reason that she's clearly got a very unique physiology, high sugar sweets may be the only food that can keep up with her likely rampant metabolism.
>That Carrot is shit
Still did more than some crew member and she is always ready to fight and not a coward.
She would be a great pair with Jinbe.
Jinbe is the voice of the wise and Carrot is the voice of the yoth and playfulness on the ship.
>tfw One Piece will end one day
Is Jump dead once it happens?
More like he's in
side of her sister.
It's a great design I'd say, very goofy and kid-like, whilst still clearly displaying how unique she is and displaying her individual characteristics that's we've seen on her adult self. Oda can make some really good female designs when he wants to.
Why do people hate Little Big Mom, she's barely six, obviously she'd do stupid things like slapping things around. It's not her fault she was born with retarded strength. And it's not like she's conscious during her tantrums.
One Piece will die when Oda actually shows what the One Piece is, because nips are never satisfied with anything and will be dissapointed no matter what it is, so the ending will be BLEACH'D
unless he won't show it until the final chapter
Luffy finds it, then he start to use the knowledge/anything from it. but it won't be showed until it will be revealed in the last chapter, what One Piece really was
thera is still chance in the future a new serie shows up and becomes big
who the fuck could predict for example back then when Dragonn Ball ran, that there will be One Piece and it wil be popular?
You can't decide which has the better ending when OP is only about 60% done
It could be better than Naruto, it could be shittier than Bleach, either way it's too early to decide that
Oda: hear that humans are supposed to be able to live until the age of 140. Then from there on, it's said that their lives get shorter as they put more stress onto their bodies. Mangakas always have way too much pressure in their lives, so I'll probably only get to live up to about the age of 135 (bummed).
Life is so short.
One Piece ending isn't going to be satisfying? We pretty much know what will happen and it's going to be fabulous. It's the end of the reign WG, the fight against BB, a war against the marines etc. We already know it will be ten times better than Naruto's ending.
i have some questions
-whats the best place to read the manga?its not on batoto.
-Is there a list somewhere that shows which episode covers which chapters?i like to jump between anime and manga but its tiring to track it down...
how often does the manga go on hiatus?
God these flashbacks tend to be really fucking boring. I believe fights are not everything, but if One Piece had some good writing it would be enjoyable to read through these flashbacks. But for fucks sake this one is boring. Not to mention they tend to always be the same shit.
"Hey look, I'm misunderstood but someone accepts me, finally. Oh shit something got fucked up so tragic"
One Piece does have some good writing in these every once in a while. The Law flashback was really nice, despite suffering from the same shit as well.
This one just feels lacking and mediocre to be honest.
>how often does the manga go on hiatus?
The last actual hiatus was back when the big time skip happened, 6? years ago.
Every month Oda is forced to skip a week for his health, because Jump doesn't want him to die on them with the shitty hours he works himself through. That doesn't include the two Jump holidays that it takes off for each year, in April and December.
Manga goes on break about once a month to give Oda a break and keep him from dying on us. So you'll get 3 chapters in a row, then a break.
I think kissmanga has the whole series, most of which you can choose to read in color.
Happy reading. Don't become a shipperfag, please and thank you.
It's some poneglyphes with what really happened during the Void Century, a plan to undo what they did and some treasures Roger added. Probably a very cool armor because Luffy loves armor.
Rumor has it Oda revealed it to a kid dying from cancer. Everyone was requested to leave the hospital room leaving the two alone.
When they were allowed to come back in, the kid was in tears saying that it is beautiful.
That isn't kid blackbeard, that's kid Hody.
ODA, WHERE'S MY NIGRESS PUDDING?
I can't agree. The ones with the structure are often great. What makes them good though are the mentors, like Hiluluk or Corazon, who make for some of the best characters in the manga. The problem with the current one is that Caramel has nothing interesting about her and she didn't really help Linlin. And it's going faster than usual. It's been one chapter and we're already at climax with no one being fleshed out.
What is Gekko Moriah again? Because he's clearly not shaped like a usual human being.
Don't know if its sarcasm or not, but I'll explain myself anyway.
Like I mentioned, flashbacks tend to be generic and repetitive. A character is misunderstood, but someone gets to love them. Said someone dies or suffers greatly and that's really fucked up.
Also, One Piece has a consistent problem with the dialogue, in which characters tend to have no voice. Of course they have different laughs and shit, but can you honestly tell me there is a big fucking difference in the antagonists in One Piece, that is, in the way they talk? Of course they have different motivations and shit, but they tend to react the same way to the same situations. Either act really arrogantly or shout really hard, their particular way of speaking does not seem to be very unique either. That last part includes every character in One Piece.
Anyway, if there is a problem with the dialogue, then a dialogue driven flashback is mostly gonna be boring.
Thats actually a good point, I really enjoyed Corazon and Hiluluk. And I do agree, that might be a problem with the current one.
I do stand by my opinion that they tend to be repetitive. The Chopper and Law ones do suffer from this also, but it seems they have more uniqueness added to the generic structure Oda seems to have.
Truly best girl
>There's a consesus on that
There is a consensus that some of the flashbacks are among the best things in OP, but not that all the flashbacks are great. You will find plenty of people disliking Rebecca's, ASL or even Robin's flashback.
>The Chopper and Law ones do suffer from this also
no they don't
to me they feel very, very different
you know what your problem is? you did not notice that you have grown out of One Piece
I just think the dialogue tends to be generic, that's a summary. Characters do not react that differently given the situations and seem to have the same "voice" (to put it in a way)
They are repetitive. but it doesn't have to be a problem. You can create great story with this basic schema which was already proven many times. Though ones that are more unique like Brook's or Fishman Islands are always welcome, and can be even better.
That might be it. But its for these reasons. Writing in general in One Piece seems very repetitive to me.
Every arc, despite having some really creative character and setting designs and ideas in general, seem to follow the same formula and the way it develops till the very end. Hell, even the characters with some great potential turn out to be flat and unmemorable.
The worlds Oda creates are really fucking unique, I'll give him that.
>"Hey look, I'm misunderstood but someone accepts me, finally. Oh shit something got fucked up so tragic"
It's true for Big Mom, Chopper and? Even then they are totally different.
>Every arc, despite having some really creative character and setting designs and ideas in general, seem to follow the same formula
oh geez it is almost like you are reading a battle manga, you know a manga from a genre were arcs having a similar structure and formular has been a thing since Dragonball? You could may as well complaing about the sky being blue. You clearly grew out of this genre.
Not mine art but was in previous thread
I personally love it, but I've seen people criticizing its lack of focus (we had three different "mentor characters") or making Robin's life shitty to the point of feeling forced.
And while I love Dadan, I would never place Luffy/Ace/Sabo flashback next to e. g.Chopper's, Franky's.
>I've seen people criticizing its lack of focus (we had three different "mentor characters") or making Robin's life shitty to the point of feeling forced.
those people are in a clear minority and I have the feeling that they are just trying too hard to find flaws in something everyone else praises
Maybe it's more mother fucking carmels fault then hers
>mfw bonnyfags blown the fuck out because mother carmel isn't her
>those people are in a clear minority
They are, but it's not that hard to find them. Like with Enies Lobby in general. It's one of the most loved arcs, but people who don't care for OP's fights too much (like me) will often dislike it or at least consider it mediocre.
> I have the feeling that they are just trying too hard to find flaws in something everyone else praises
Nah, I can clearly see what they didn't like there. It just doesn't bother me personally.
Yes. The world is composed of islands and there's evil people who need to get a beating. The story is about the WG having taken control of the whole world and letting that happen. And no, it's not changing at all. The Yonko are literal emperors who took over the New World.
There are plenty of battle manga that can have quite an unique structure to them. Also, the fact that One Piece suffers from the same stuff other manga battle suffers from does not make my criticism invalid.
as I said you may as well complain about the sky being blue, if something is bothering you that is common for this genre then you simply should not read a manga from this genre
Ennies Lobby seems to have a more unique structure (although nothing outstanding) from other One Piece arcs actually. The fact everyone is fighting everyone (at least at the begginning) in order to get to Enel is really nice actually.
Was mother caramel the previus user of the soru soru no mi? If someone tricked Big Mom in order to get that powerfull akuma no mi?
Yup, he held no grudge against Trebol, Baby 5 or Buffalo for their fucks up. He saved Law and Baby 5's lifes when they were kids. Seemed genuinely pissed at people making fun of Pica. He was an evil bastard with everyone but his family.
>O: Corazon is 2 years younger than Doflamingo. He died at the age of 26. So Sugar and Monet would end up joining after this incident. These two were rescued from an extremely misfortunate environment by Doflamingo himself, and as sisters aged 9 and 17, they resolved to throw their lives away if it were for the sake of the Family. They were provided with Devil Fruits after joining. You see, Doflamingo is very observant of the "environments" that people grow up in.
I can't stop thinking of someone I know when looking at young Linlin.
>Caramel can no longer put up with Linlin and abandons her like her parents
>Linlin eats Caramel and alters the memory to her leaving
>sociopath who as a kid would try and mutilate her adopted siblings for fu
she was no sociopath, and she didn't want to mutilate them. In fact she didn't even understand it in the terms of mulitating them, she wante to help them.
It's like that newstory of the german sheepherd who saw the kid of his owners having trouble in the pool and went to drag her out grabbing her by the neck as dogs do accidentally killing her.
No, because as I said, there are some that do not repeat the same structure.
Also, the fact that One Piece has a flaw that many other manga do, does not really make it invulnerable to criticism.
the difference is, this is Big Mom's country, Luffy is saving no one, it's not like he ran into a princess who asked him to save her country, the only reason he's doing this is to get the poneglyph
this warfare type feeling is what I thought the Dressrosa was gonna be when we got introduced to it, but in the end it became Alabasta 2.0
Well, Skypiea isn't this universally loved, it's actually highly controversial arc. And I actually disliked it going from adventure to fights against underdeveloped characters so quickly.
>WCI arc is almost wrapped up
>tfw Wano arc will probably just be a Dressrosa tier clusterfuck
>the long time anticipated and hyped up Elbaf finally shows up
>in a flashback
>the entire village jobs to a 5 yo girl
There is plenty of stuff I enjoy from it, despite knowing its flaws. I'm just discussing my opinions regarding stuff I dislike.
Liking something does not mean I cannot accept the many flaws it might have.
Except the fact that he's actually saving Sanji, the Germa 66, every countries who are bullied daily by Big Mom and probably even her citizens and family because she's about to attack everyone?
>Bad guys harm others.
>MC kick the ass of bad guys.
>Saving people in the processs (on purpose or not)
Get over it.
It's almost like they wanted to emphasize Big Mom's strength by having her destroy a place most anticipated and reckoned with such as Elbaf. Kinda feel like they did it on purpose. Kinda.
So then what would be the point of giving
Kaido the dragon fruit again? Wouldn't something like an oni be better since he's called the 100 beasts and Oni are made of a bunch of beasts mashed together?
Caramel dies and leaves Linlin to take control of the orphanage. Linlin is terrible at it and things get out of control. The giants end up throwing her out and Linlin becomes a pirate.
you are delusional if you think otherwise
I guess what kinda breaks the formula is that Luffy ain't doing it for those reasons (other than the Sanji stuff), doe I wouldn't be surprised if there's a "I'LL SAVE EVERYONE" moment again
Everybody assumes he was just like Luffy, but he actually went around killing people and made a ton of enemies.
Contrast that with Luffy who never kills and turns enemies into friends.
Yes, they are the antagonist, like in every story they are the same all the way through.
The structure is what I'm talking about. Its not the "Hey, there is a bad guy. Lets fight the crew of the bad guy in order to get to the bad guy" And they defeat the crew and shit and go to the bad guy defeat him and the cycle repeats.
In FMA they capture a bad guy, then he breaks loose, then this guy helps, but then this shit happens. You know, despite having the same bad guys, there is a lot more than fighting the bad guy's crew and then the big bad one.
Why didn't Doffy consider Bellamy as a part of his family? The guy was really loyal as fuck to him and had huge admiration for him. He never once thought about betraying Doffy.
>you are delusional if you think otherwise
and you are a memer if you actually think the arc deserves to be labeled 2.0. There are paralells to Alabasta Oda purposely inserted but in detail both arcs are vastly different
From Garp's stiory he was kinda Goku-like. He was pure, but that doesn't necessarily make him good. We know for a fact that he would raid ships (we don't have too much detail though). But then Zeff also attacked innocent people (women included) like a pirate would for their wealth. Was he a good person?
>tfw we will never see Big Mom after this arc again.
I'm gonna miss her.
> "Hey, there is a bad guy. Lets fight the crew of the bad guy in order to get to the bad guy"
That's the structure of battle shonen nekketsu. Same goes for FMA
>there is a lot more than fighting the bad guy's crew and then the big bad one.
It's also true for One Piece.
So Loki is ~63, younger than Big Mom. That's like 18-20 in giant years, assuming their lifespan is about 3 times that of a human.
He didn't have a bad childhood.
Bellamy grew up in a nice town and wanted to become a pirate because he thought Doffy was cool.
Everybody in Doflamingo's family was there because they had nowhere else they belonged.
That's just a rumor. Oda slapped the kid for asking it, then made out with his mom while the dad was forced to watch from a closet in a Superman costume.
Oda DOES tell his editors as they move on to other projects, the major story beats and the ending. He started doing that after his first health scare.
Also he'll apparently just tell people if they are big fans and they meet him in person. One of the autists that got featured on the One Piece Podcast had dinner with him and was offered to be told the ending.
She looks absolutely fucking evil, I swear I got abused by kids that looked like this when I was 5, fucking hell it creeps me out. I dont know if I'm able to read this chapter its just too spooky
What if you feed bigmom with another df during her tantrum?
the only difference is the plan to destroy the Smile factory, the rest is the exact same formula, of course in detail it ain't the same, the Soul Society arc and the Hueco Mundo arc ain't exactly the same but that doesn't change the fact it's formulaic
>800+chapters mango is simple
he trained 1 year with Rayleigh actually but my point was if warrior Giants ain't that strong don't see why 5 year old Big Mom defeating normal Giant villagers is that big of a stretch
No it's supposed to show you that even if someone has good intentions they can still be a monster.
You might feel a tiny bit of sympathy when she dies, but ultimately it's for the best.
MAY have also fugged bear kid
Her sad backstory is that she had a relatively good childhood surrounded by nice people who cared for her, but she was a monstrous autist that caused her own problems. Just like Doflamingo
no redemption, only beatdown
>Giants aren't that strong
>Worlds strongest nation
>Could of given big mom the fire power to take down Kaido Shanks and whitebeard
>just the thought of elbaf coming to war scared the WG shitless they let war crminals go
>Not that strong
I fucking hate you.
>Carmel gets cleaved in harlf saving Linlin
>Lilnlin snaps out of her food rage in shock of carmels death
>Starts to autisticly screech knocking out everyone
>runs away and starts a pirate crew.
>is comissioned by a friend mid-2016 to draw one piece
>too lazy to do it, still not finished
>some random anon asks me to draw one piece
>do it the same day
Random mask kids
While i enjoy reading or watching Ippo, the Ippo fights are the worst fights in the series.
>Gets beaten to a pulp
>Pulls out a dempsy roll that trancends space and time
That has been all the fights since he learned the move 600 chapters ago. Wolf is best guy.
Haha i'll try
He asked for a Perona but whenever i tried i just gave up because i wasn't satisfied with it
Does this look good enough? If so, imma finish it
I think you mean Dadan.
And probably not because both Ace and Luffy weren't nearly as autistic.
Imagine telling Linlin that she can only eat 1 bowl of rice.
It could do with some minor tweaks to make it more Perona-like, but the drawing itself is great, particularly the nails. I can understand getting caught up on a character like her though, very busy design and all that.
Buggy is way too handsome and glorious for me to be able to capture his spirit in drawings
He's one of my favorite characters tho ill give it a try someday
I hadn't seen that holy balls thanks!! but i gotta do some stuff right now so i'll do it later
Thanks, ill consider it!!
"Just draw her any way you wanna"
Oda: Allow me to introduce you to the proud and beautiful island of Elbaf.
>"Just draw her any way you wanna"
And you didn't just draw a stick figure and demand payment? Missed opportunity right there.
All joking aside, I think some minor changes to the eyes would go a long way in making it look complete as they're such a huge focal point of her manga design.
I don't blame her t.bh, these things are real good
>inb4 Big Mom wants to marry a daughter to a giant so she can return to Elbaf and eat semla again
Post underrated girls no one talks about
Gifters have a particular mark on their bodies, I think.
I figured out what happens.
They have the big fight, they can't defeat big mom, escape, go to elbaf, big mom opens the BOX, then she chases them to elbaf, big fight happens, Chopper cures her of her autism, she decides to let them go for now.
no they're not you memester. Giants are crazy strong, and linlin beating a bunch of them as a hungry kid is to show just how powerful she is.
But you are a memester and only care about shitposting so none of what I sai will matter to you.
I mean, their captains were glorified jobbers from their first appearances... I don't know what you expected, but even jobbing to a child Big Mom is a better fate than anything I can think. She killed a fucking bear with a spank where she was probably holding back.
It's fun to see the defensive reactions.
I doubt it'll be anywhere near as long as Law's, the main message that needs to be transmitted in the flashback is where did Big Mom's issues, goals and vulnerability come from. This is likely to be shown next chapter as all the pieces are in place for something traumatic to happen involving Mother Caramel.
Outside of that it's an odd situation as we're still not sure how the rocket strike is going to go down. There's tons of potential outcomes, but I'm sure that something from the flashback will come into play in whatever outcome will follow.
Lion's mane, crocodile's jaw, goat antlers, body of a snake, claws of an eagle.
Traditional depictions of western dragons will throw hawk beaks, serpent bodies, lion manes and all sorts of dumb bullshit on top of the traditional batwings on lizard bodies.
Modern dragons are sort of their own thing, but that's just because of the ideal congealing through multiple cultures and media.
He loved them but at the same time would kill them if necessary. The Bird Cage would have sliced them all up along with everyone else on Dressrosa but at that point Doffy was too enraged to care. They're like his favorite objects, to be used and taken care of but when push comes to shove they are all disposable.
