An asspull is something that happens that goes against the established laws of the universe and happens out of thin air. BC power ups fit the laws of the verse and it isn't always lazy writing. Pretty fucking simple but you're not getting it.

Gauche was a loner and only cared about his sister but then he needed teamwork to protect his sister and realised teamwork is important and so he learnt the magic to clone his teammates with mirrors

Vanessa had her teammates=family stuff.

Noelle was bullied all her childhood about being useless as shit and how she can't control her powers but then she realised that's all past and she needs to help her teammates and she learnt naga's cannon. The one case I can agree is lazy writing was the first time she learnt her big water shield as it was about how she needs to help the weak townsfolk and she can't stay useless.

These are all the new magic learnt moments that didn't come from training. Sure, they're cliche but it's development that lead to the new magic to be learnt.

I Just works because you WOULD expect this series to be generic enough to have a hotspring chapter with titties'n shit, only to spend a whole chapter setting up something you wouldn't never get.

Chapter 67 is prime example of how shit Noels powerup progression has been.
It's just her watching as everyone gets their shit pushed in when suddenly she desiceds to do something and almost kill the bad guy that was busy wipping the floor with everyone else there.

It's odd that artists rarely do this or anything else a little bit niche in terms of character design. I mean I understand why the main heroine doesn't have abs or something since it's a good idea to appeal to the broadest audience possible, but when it comes to some irrelevant side character that will only appear in a dozen chapters it's not going to cause any issues even if some people dislike it, but it would make the characters more varied.
