get the anime version Baselard (bundled with blu-ray), i think it has a cute smile. or you can do what i did, and cut the eyebrows and lashes out of one of the extra decals and apply it to a blank face.

i didnt paint anything except Gourai's missile launcher, Jinrai's swords, and panel lining/detailing. i sanded everything to remove the gloss, thats why mine look better than out of the box builds. the first kit was tough because i rushed through the sanding and butchered a lot of the fine details, but it got easier after that. i'm not an experienced modeler either and my painting is terrible.

Hm, thanks for the info, sanding and panel lining I know how to do, and that looks pretty good. Maybe I'll buy some FAGs after all.

I think if Ao is really mentally ill, its possible that she's not that severe, she's still able to take care of herself but she can't tell what are her delusions and what is real.
Bukiko, and her landlord are both people hired by her parents to take care of Ao.
Her landlord would get her stuff that ain't groceries, and also do some shit for her, while Bukiko takes care of Ao in school. Occasionally, Bukiko goes out with Ao so Ao at least gets some real human interaction.
The messy room was due to the Roomba going mad, it was later fixed. The errant trip was actually done by another social worker while another guy goes and fixes the roomba. The school trip at night was again done by another worker.
The FAGs going to school was due to Ao accidentally putting Baselard into her bag and her mind rolled with it, the chaos that day was due to a crow.

The door was destroyed by someone who tried to rob her place but was fought off by the neighbors, during the fight the window was broken but Ao didn't notice it until the Hres in her delusions "broke" the window.

Guriko was a representation of Ao's childhood memories as she played with Gourai and not an actual entity.

You should get kits of things you want. Recommendations mainly come into play when there are multiple kits of a certain thing, since some are poorer quality due to age or just sub par design or just come with less stuff. Less an issue with FAG since the line is much younger and and smaller than the likes of Gundam, where even old kits occasionally get a new run put out in addition to the multiple modern grades.
