One of my new favorite past times is reading shitty fan fictions and I found a really bad bleach fanfic. It has got to have been the most autistic thing I have ever read until I checked up on the previous thread.

It takes place after aizen is defeated and ichigo is about to lose his powers. The soul king comes and makes him immortal, gives him godlike powers and he also becomes patriarch of the shiba clan. In addition he gets a harem of yoruichi, soyphone, onuhana, orihime, rukia, nel, harribel, tatsuske, and some other characters I can't remember. They kill korotsuchi because of crimes he committed and I can't even describe the amount of autism still in the fanfic.

The biggest problem is that Ichigo never really had a drive. "Protect people" is passive and defensive. He's at the mercy of everyone else and is not an agent for change.
Naruto wants to be ninja president, Luffy wants the worlds most well guarded treasure, Gon wants to find his dad and be a great hunter like him, Kirito. Fucking kirito even because he wants to escade the vidya and jizz in his wifes dried up cunt.

All of these characters have a drive and a motivation that propels them forward.
Ichigos is: "My friend got taken away. Time to rescue them from the castle." Every damn time.
Every fucking one of his major buddies had a rescue arc. Rukia had Soul Society, Orihime had Hueco Mundo, Chad had Fullbringer, Ishida had Quincy
It's the same core every damn time. And because of this the main character feels bland and uninteresting despite dripping with character in the first arc.

He was a do-good punk who feels obligated to do a mystery womans job for her until she can go back home because she helped save his family. When she's taken hostage he does everything he can to save her and thus repay her because his moral compas demands that the scales always be balanced and debts repaid.

After that it's just more people being stolen away from him over and over. He has no goal to strive for of his own, he's totally reactionary and at the total mercy of the world around him and that does not often yield good stories.

Just imagine if he had an end goal. Something he wanted on his own. He mentioned maybe wanting to run a clinic like his dad. So go with that. Have him fold that into his ghost adventures. Fucking something. Anything.

It's a fantastic arc that does a lot of interesting things with the characters. It depowers things and refocuses allowing for more of that highschool ghostbusting feel with a nice noir feel to it. The psychological torment was also done very well. People don't like it because it's just so radically different than all of the other repetitive arcs before it. In a vacuum or even after soul society it's a great arc even if fullbringing is a bit too close to stand power in my opinion.
