Entirely possible, it's just suicidal if you're too low level. Later volumes in easy mode are as hard as volume 1 on hardest.
Protip: there are two values at the top right of the screen, the one on the right changes with difficulty and is the recommended minimum team strength. The one on the left is current team strength. It's not perfect though, since Kazakiri has average strength but is useless.

But I had trouble with Misaka (3rd time? volume 1) on higher difficulties even though her attacks are easy to avoid. She just had so much health that eventualyl i would get caught up in an electrical attack after slowly wearing away at her health without taking damage.

Throws shit at you until it connects, then locks you in place and kills you or rushes in and lol Sheol Fear. I'm not sure whether it's a special or what, but I've seen them spamming it five seconds after match start. Sheol Fear is 360 degrees in a 2-3 meter radius, which means that if have to close in to attack, you're fucked. It blocks all attack commands for like ten seconds. Literally all you can do is run around and try to avoid Sphinx.
That's pretty much it.
I found a Kuroko that murdered me at distance without either of us even moving, and the guy other than me that's running Oriana. Incidentally, it was the only non one-sided fight.

Granted, they actually understand what's written so they can do a better job than me at a decent build, but depending on who you roll you're fucked without ranged attacks.
The most common team I've seen in team battles is like mine, Touma-Kazakiri-Oriana.
Kazakiri is flat out useless. Melee only and her specials require transforming which requires taking damage.
If you don't build your Touma perfectly, their Toumas fuck you over. Even then, Index can still cheese every melee-only if they're barely paying any attention. Ranged too if she gets close.
Which leaves Oriana, and since almost everyone can outmelee her, your tactic will be running around like a retard, praying they walk in your traps, and praying you win when time's up because you have more health, unless it counts as a draw.
And it's still a two minutes gauntlet where getting caught once is almost instant death.

Tl;dr find a chink telling you how to build Touma, or pray you get more cheese than they do.

I'm currently using Oriana+Touma (fucking pinball shit won't give me a third character) and I managed to almost kil her a few time by doing some combos with Touma that pretty much keep her stunned permanently, the problem is that she has so much health that it takes quite a while to bring it down to the last bar and if I lose Touma, Oriana is fucking useless since all her spells require the target to not be teleporting around like a madman.
