I'd be afraid because I don't know if the modern anime industry can handle something like Ranma 1/2.

Like, the characters aren't the deepest individuals in fiction, but most of them don't really fit into the easy archetypes that modern anime loves slotting everyone into because Otaku can't stand not having the same tropes play out again and again.

How they'd do Ranma and Akane is something I'd worry about. Because a key part of their relationship is that their arguments are mutual. It isn't just The Tsundere going "B-b-baka!" at the bland love interest.

Ranma's kind of a prick and will often get Akane mad because he's a prick. Akane doesn't get embrassed and flustered when she does something to show him affection.

Not to mention a lot of the time the two are simply shown hanging out together and the bickering they do is more like the usual thing you see with friends giving each other crap.

And then there's all the other characters. How would they do Kuno? Or Ryoga?

I'd honestly suggest reading the manga.

The story is rather episodic and sitcomish overall, there is character development but it's fairly gradual and mostly for the two leads Ranma and Akane as well as Ranma's main male rivals Ryoga and Mousse.

It's really funny and the characters are likable even when they're being jerks.

If you thought the first 18 episodes had no progression, then, yeah, just drop it. Until midway through the third season the anime is always introducing new recurring characters and techniques, but after a while everything comes to a halt and the show becomes almost entirely throw away filler.

And the worst part of that filler is that they even refuse to use stuff introduced by the manga after a certain point for some random reason.
