Precia was perfectly good as she was in the TV series. Her objective being trying to revive her dead daughter by opening a rift to a place that might not even actually exist made her plenty sympathetic and put her abuse of Fate in a new light. Most importantly, it didn't need any expanding on as we knew all the important points that lead Precia to where she was. Showing us Precia's happy family life and how Alicia died adds or changes nothing, it just takes up space and makes the story less airtight.
