How different is the webcomic story to the manga? I started reading kinda where the manga left off and there's no martial arts tournament at all. I scanned through a bit of the older chapters and it looks pretty similar.

Manga is basically the extended cut of the webcomic. ONE is taking them in different directions as they progress. The Tournament arc is just a part of the extended MA arc.

They're completely different at this point. Consider it a completely remake kinda like a WN->LN. Some characters are the same and the general idea is the same but what actually happens is not.
