I watched Evangelion and i agree that it's definitely good but resent it all the more because of how much it is lorded by /a/ elitist.
I also think that regardless of how good evangelion was, Shinji being a massive bitch for most of it was a huge detractor from the quality, as i was thrust out of the narrative in frustration. Also it was too fucking convoluted. I shouldn't have to get on a wiki just to understand the plot

X is a fine starting place although its a bit more romance heavy than most traditional Gundam shows
you could also start with an OVA so you don't have to spend 2 to 3 cours deciding if you like a series: I highly recommend 0080: War in the Pocket and Stargazer, although with the latter you'll be left wanting to watch SEED and Destiny for background info and they aren't nearly as top quality

I have a system for watching anime which essentially ensures that I don't directly choose what I watch, and I always have to finish everything that I start and must watch everything in the franchise, including OVAs, picture dramas, etc. To avoid having too many series on the go at once, I don't get to start a new one until I have finished something that is 50 episodes or over. Because this system often results in me getting very long-running anime I don't necessarily want taking up my HD space, I regularly stream such shows.

I also am a nice, friendly, if slightly awkward person with several real-life friends whom I keep in contact with and regularly see in real life.

I'm not sure how many of these count as sins but I'll list them anyway:
I don't read manga very much and pretty much exclusively read it on my phone. All I've read basically is a little over half of Jojo, half of Mitsudomoe and I used to be up to date with Hero Academia, Monster Musume and One Punch Man but now I'm a little behind.
I normally detest and question rewatching anything however I have rewatched P&S (10+ times), Mitsudomoe (3 times) and Soul Eater (2 times).
I hate threads which consist of character > character but sometimes contribute to them. I never make threads about my favorite anime series because I can't think of anything insightful to talk about so I guess I'm just as bad.
I thought Madoka was boring. I gave it a 4/10 on MAL.
I thought Nichijou was boring. I gave it a 7/10 on MAL. I love the artstyle and music and if it was just the Hakase house I'd probably give it a 9/10 or possibly a 10/10.
I feverishly note down everything I watch even outside of anime, if MAL didn't exist I'd be a mess.
I LOVE loli as characters if that makes sense, most of my favorite anime include or feature them. Older, masculine girls are my kinda thing though. "Bifauxnen" or "Orekko" I think describe what I like.

Giving up my normalfag life is impossible too, for obvious reasons.

Never saw the use in learning Japanese to enjoy anime "more" and am only learning it now in order to read untranslated mystery novels.
I actually watched Bakemonogatari for the plot, which made everything that came afterwards frustrating.
Most of my writing ends up inspired by character dramas like Evangelion on account of my own life not being complicated or interesting enough to be worth discussing.

I read very little manga, only those I can get physical copies of. There are some exceptions, but not many.
