I actually liked it, a rather fresh take on a stale genre, with some unusual character developement, darker themes and a love triangle instead of a harem for once. I liked how nuanced the main character was, not a typical hero in the slightest, but he still grew and learned.
Not a bad show, not stellar, but pretty ok for an isekai.

It was AOTY for me, the threads were fun and the show was good, a part of /a/ hate it because they must hate popular shows, just like HxH, SnK, JoJo and many others shows that used to had small fanbases in /a/ but after they got popular everyone started to hate it.

It was my first Isekai so I had huge expectations in the beginning.

Kingdom of Lugnica? Cool. Map of it? History? Relations with neighbours?
All candidates are female? Cool, why? What is the dragon?
Satella? What exactly did she do? What is the witch's scent? What's up with the sect?
How did the MC got teleported there? Is he gonna stay there forever? Doesn't he have a family back there?

All these questions went mostly unanswered. And without them, you pretty much have nothing about the world's story. Which is extra annoying because our MC had access to most of this information, but he preferred pissing off le librarian loli, learning a foreign language and being Roswaals slave in his free time.

I don't like SnK but reading the manga has made me appreciate how much effort the anime makes to make the source material better.

It caused a couple legitimate shitstorms on /a/ and absolutely dominated board discussion while it was airing, which in my mind automatically makes it good.

I would more than happily welcome another Re:Zero to spice things up around here.

Main character is terrible and never used real world knowledge once, i think its enjoyable in parts, but overall 5.2/10
