Blame is better than most of the anime being done now.
Is this all thanks to netflix being part of it?
Seems anime is no longer a japanese monopoly. Seems americans can do anime just as good as japaneses.
Are you retarded or do you seriously think that because it was produced by Netflix but in all other regards conceptualized and created in Japan it somehow isn't anime? Or do you think Netflix doesn't have a Japanese division? America has virtually nothing to do with it.
How shit is the Netflix players? I never used it.
>americans can do anime as good as japanese
>Directed by Hiroyuki Seshita
>Written by Tsutomu Nihei & Sadayuki Murai
>Music by Yugo Kanno
>Studio: Polygon Pictures (Japanese 3DCG animation studio, in minato)
>original manga is still japanese
the only thing american here is netflix. Plus, the anime division of netflix is located in tokyo. Go ahead a google it.
>the only thing american here is netflix. Plus, the anime division of netflix is located in tokyo. Go ahead a google it.
It was such a weak bait, and you still bit into it. Is this the new Blame! movie thread?
I just watched it this morning and I must say I was pleasantly suprised. Sure it's CG and the animation cannot be called smooth, but it is good to see Blame on the screen. They really captured the atmosphere of the world and its setting, making you want to know more about it. It's too bad that I didn't get the same sense of scale like in the manga though.
if I had to choose which kind of cancer to die from, then I'd choose the french.
at least they make it good, not like that abortion called teen titans
>What is Persona 3
Obviously not as cute as Cibo, but she's still pretty good
I WILL STREAM THIS SHIT IN 1080 AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME
Blame! online game when?
Cibo is my new queen!
BLAME got announced before Netflix started the whole NETFLIX ANIME ORIGINAL bullshit
They also don't fund shit.
They get streaming licenses like Crunchyroll and Funimation who give the japanese producers a few thousands bucks for it - Which is peanuts considering how anime usually cost millions.
>tfw Sanakan will never step on you
Why even live
No it didn't. The producer of the film flat out said that it's the first Japanese "Netflix Original Film," and that the project couldn't have happened without support from Netflix.
There's a big interview about it here: http://www.blame.jp/news/
Sidonia was first "netflix original." Blame was announced after Sidonia S2
>rated by 491 people on MAL
>most of that probably watched it illegally
>worse rating than stuff like Guilty Crown
Same with Sidonia.
People in the west obviously do not like CGI anime. Why even try?
What would you do if she gave you this look?
It's only a slice of the story but it's got some changes to it too.
I'd say I like it but don't expect it to stick close to the manga in terms of story or a huge world-changing resolution.
>flight suit alternate universe cibo
>bare arms, mini skirt and shockstaff suit cibo
>angel robot lesbo pregnant cibo
Which version of cibo is best cibo?
Blame! is a television series in the Knights of Sidonia world.
Nihei has easter eggs in his different series, but there's no reason to think any of them are actually connected.
I'd smash her so hard.
It's condensed and explains just enough so it's not too confusing but it also leaves a lot of questions.
Still I can definitely recommend it if you like grim cyberpunk or...whatever genre this is.
And Biomega is a movie in Sidonia.
Abara is a alternate universe before Sidonia and Aposimz is what happened to the Aposimz ship after they coquered a planet, its like a cold Blame! universe.
The answer is clear

Babys first shounen?
France does it better. Avatar was too prude/SJW to be anime
I can't believe the ration sticks are back. Though now that we know that one piece from a bar is enough to fill a village full of people for a day it makes sense why he was chomping down on it like it was candy.
Long Cibo is cute.
It has its flaws, but its the closest to anime fauxanime will ever be
Yeah, I'm really curious about where he came from. The city must have created him to search for humans with NTG, since the contagion got rid of anyone who could give the machines orders. But after over 3000 years of searching, his memory went to shit and only his one objective remains.
It was never confirmed who gave him that order right? Though he is not exactly recognized by the Safeguard I'd bet that he's really a stolen body of a high-level Safeguard. Wasn't there this girl with a dog who seemed to be 'with' him too?
If I had to guess I'd say some people managed to steal a body and programmed him to seek humans and just let him loose into the world.
When Cibo closes the elevator she drops something. Sequel hook?
an agent of the Authority and probably a former member of either the safeguard or an organization predating them.
He's just forgetten all about by the time the manga starts and rarely meets people who know about him.
Costs vary pretty heavily.
Back in the Attack on Titan days a german licensor cried over them waiting too long to get it.
They said it cost them sixtuble digits and less popular shows go for quadrable digits.
Well, Peppermint (which even has Aniplex backing) said they couldn't get Your Name for the Akiba Pass Festival in Germany because for the high price.
But they got In This Corner Of The World as first one outside of Japan instead so it worked out.
I'm actually surprised they turned up Killy's and Cibo's benevolence towards regular humans. At first I was surprised but I guess I don't mind it - anything that gives Killy a little more character is welcome. Cibo was always kind of nice either way.
>less popular shows go for quadrable digits.
holy shit i hope this is ture
would this be a yearly renewal or a set number before contract expires? fuckin license me some anime if thats the case
Wake up, she this.
I wanted to protect this smile.
Really what the fuck is Killy's character now?
He used to be a space hobo exploring the endless space sewer. Now he's like "I need your clothes and your motorcycle"
I never understood why people get so upset by the mention of diversity. If a story is talking about the entirety of humanity, in a world where there are no countries and everyone is just trying to survive. I don't see a problem with wondering why only asian humans are all you see. There are more asian humans than any other kind, so it would only make sense I guess. But if they are going to have some characters look white, then they should have some other kind of people also.
>Really what the fuck is Killy's character now
We don't know what the fuck is his deal anyways. He rarely speaks so far and there's no anime inner monologues so much of his character is a mystery. All we can do is guess.
I want 2.2 meters tall Cibo to carry me princess style!
>He rarely speaks so far and there's no anime inner monologues
I just re-checked the manga and he's reasonably talkative character, just doent run his mouth too much to explain what's going on to the reader.
We also know he fucking hates Cyborgs but loves sexless mutant people for some reason.
>sub 10 fps animation
Just fucking stop trying this shit until you make it bearable to watch, jesus fucking christ.
>I wanted a thread about waifuing cibo for years
Why did they make her a robutt now?
She used to be pretty fleshy back then in manga.
Well he probably hates the Silicon Lifeforms for starting the whole apocalypse...if he can remember it. Maybe it's etched into his subconsciousness? As for the mutants he probably regards them the same way as humans.
In Blame!2 though he does save the second Pcell and other SLs so once his mission is done he probably mellows out and just helps anyone he can...maybe. Again it's pretty vague.
>finally a detailed reference on Sanakan's anatomy
Would you buy a death robot waifu daki?
Minute detail but Polygon Pictures got a lot of gaijin staff in them compared to the rest of the industry.
After Blame2, I'd say he mainly hates assholes and mellowed out on the silicons after he restored net access. He blasted the Bio-Electric facility when he found out they were harvesting the sexless mutants to sell them as body transplants, so he seems to have personal moral compass, though he has a low bullshit threshold, so anyone who attacks him gets a shot from the GBE. In Blame 2 he was saving the last of its kind, as it was trying to find a new home and it was on its way out anyway.
>all this funding from goyflix
>still resorts to copypasting characters
Count the copies in this pic
JESUS CHRIST KILLY IT'S AN EXTERMINATOR GET IN THE CAR
And this one too
It's Polygon, what did you expect?
Seriously just look at this shit
She was smug before then, and then there's this scene.
they have superhuman strength though
they'd smash you
Give me a webm of this scene!
Maybe she wanted to move around a bit. I mean it had been a pretty long time you know buried beneath rubble. Now she's an arm so I'm sure she enjoyed that runway bit even more.
holy shit the redditors have leaked from /pol/ to /a/
what do we do now?
You keep using this word, it's more appropriate to say it was constructed from Seu's genes mixed with Sana's with Cibo as the host
>Not enjoying Cibo's legs
I swear to god I focused more on Cibo and Sana's legs than anything else
>Killy lived for thousands of years after saving the City
>Couldnt spend it with either Cibo or Sanakan
Just Fuck My Shit Up
Anyone know why characters that look like Killy always lose their weirdo girlfriends in the end? It happened for
Hei and Ichisetoo.
It's a movie, not a show.
Fuck you, anything BLAME! is good news.
Go back to jerking off to monster girls.
I feel like we could make a Gordom Ramsay parody with this
WHERE'S THE MOLECULAR TAPE?
WHERE'S THE GODDAMNED FUCKING TAPE?!
3D sure is disgusting.
It's enough for me that they even met.
Cibo could have spent the rest of her life in that fucking sewer and never get another life. Killy could have just not went though that section of the megastructure.
But they did meet, and somehow found something humans would call solace from the loneliness of the world of BLAME!.
It wasn't love, I don't think it was ever friendship. I don't know how Killys mind works. But it was something. They found some kind of respite in each other for the brief time they knew each other.
That's enough in such a cruel world.
At least properly animated. I will never touch anything 3DCG. Kizumonogatari is my limit if it comes to 3D. At least characters were drawn and animated well in 2d,so it was watchable.
He's a fucking safeguard, I don't think he can cry.
Straight from the 80's
It's the future. 3.5 shows this season are CGI. Get used to it.
The only difference between an anime and a cartoon is the country its made in. There is no "anime art-style" that makes something an anime you retards. Anime has many different art-styles. Actually anime is a fucking cartoon too, just with that extra "anime" descriptor.
BLAME! is surprisingly emotional and almost moving when you start thinking about it more deeply.
I guess the understated characters help create that.
It's called the Gravitational Beam Emitter you uncultured swine.
The dub version is following the Vertical manga and is still insisting that he's called "Kyrii", even though it's actually clearly listed as Killy in the Jap credits. A concession to spare Vertical's blushes?
To be honest, I didn't really like how they did Killy in the movie. He's got the look and the moves, yeah, but his voice direction was dumb. Killy's taciturn, yeah, but he hasn't got a speech impediment. "I'm... from... 6,000.... levels... below..." It sounds like he's having to look down and check his script for each last word.
It's not hardkerr enough for some people, I guess. Also, blue doesn't give the sense of danger that bright red does. They're trying to convey danger to a blank audience, not to experienced readers, so that's what we get.
Most seasoned readers know it as white-blue.
The only reason it's good because of Netflix, is because Netflix actually pays studios well to make their content, and they also don't rush their products.
Most modern anime would be a lot better if there wasn't a huge time-press on the studios and if it paid better. Just fixing one of those two would improve quality quite a bit.
I liked Cibo's ballerina feet, it's actually somewhat atypical. That wasn't in Cibo's original design, it's taking off Nihei's redrawn version for the Master Edition covers. I think I prefer the new version.
Ok, you've stated your hatred for CG, we know how superior you are.
Now get the fuck out and let us enjoy what we like.
I'm sure some official work also shows it white-yellow.
Look on this rid outfit.
Actually I think Nihei himself has no idea what color shit is in Blame, it's black and white for him.
No. If you want an imagined prequel to Blame!, read Blame.
Biomega is nowhere close to Blame though, not even in plot
Enemies at first but then Sanakan goes full yuri for Cibo upon learning she has an egg with NTG, not to mention they had to share a body (more like Cibo hijacked Sanakan's) for an entire decade during the Toha arc
>weird new artstyle
you take that back, but yeah, it's a redraw of the entire series in his more modern artstyle instead of looking like a 17 year old's deviantart OC donut steel
Why is everyone in this thread forgetting about best girl PCell?
I also didn't like how they did the reveal of Killy being a Safeguard (sort of, I know there's nuance to it in the manga). None of the other characters was there to hear it, so it had absolutely no impact on the story at all and was pointless. It doesn't really have much shock for the audience alone, because even if you are a Blame newbie you know from the glowy eyes and super-strength and the watchtower effects that Killy's not normal anyway. A sad misfire.
Eeeeeh, I don't really like the change.
He draws characters and expressions better now and sameface is a bit less frequent, but I'm not really a fan of almost entirely white pages instead of black ones.
You are fucking stupid, holy shit.
Netflix gave them money so they could stream it first and slap their logo on it. It was made entirely in Japan by Japanese animators. I've been following the director's and Nihei's Twitters for months, Netflix had nothing to do with this shit other than some money and distribution.
With that said, I thought it was a really good adaptation given what the original manga is like. They had to make some changes and focus on a more protagonist-like character but they stayed true to the setting and feel. My only gripe/issue is that
at the end of the movie, Cibo stays behind with the Electro-Fishers. She's pretty important to the rest of the plot so if they make a second movie, they'll have to have her meet up with Killy again, and by that point he's already had at least 60-80 years head start.
If this were any other anime, Zuru would be best girl, but Cibo really took the cake this time.
Don't you dare call that shit Blame!
I didn't even watch it, but just picking some seconds at random on the timeline, out of 20 picks 19 were closeups of faces or other people.
What an abomination.
If this is american anime, I want none of that.
Dude, shittily drawn spiky black hair and terrible facial expressions that look more like droopy faces isn't original at all. It's pretty much every chuuni kid's first edgy OC
>instead of looking like a 17 year old's deviantart OC donut steel
Kill yourself. He draws faces better now but literally everything else is worse. He forgot how to draw detail and shading.
It's not a complete redraw, just a touch-up here and there, like a Special Edition.
>Is it all out yet?
In English, no. And the originals have not been scanned. You'll essentially just have to take the word of those of us with the originals on the rest of the volumes, until they're out. The only change significant enough for me to take a picture was THE BOX.
"Here and there" - this is the log for chapter 1; of 65.
>most of that probably watched it illegally
You act like most people don't have a Netflix subscription. That's how I watched it last night. I then immediately downloaded the HorribleSubs rip (just in case the apocalypse hits and the Internet is wiped out... can't live without my Blame!) but I and I'm pretty sure most everyone else watched it legally, simply because of how accessible it is that way.
Yeah, there was like 400 posts in that thread before there was any sort of rip at all. The average person around here probably has Netflix, that's just how it is. But let's not discuss things like that; this is a Blame thread.
The covers are the only thing in his new Sidonia style. A few things get redrawn and cleaned up, but for the most part, the faces still look mostly as they used to, instead of his more moe later style.
Thinking about it, I'd have liked for him to go full on out and rewrite the series dialogue from the ground up. Reading through the earlier volumes, it still seems like many concepts weren't yet thought out and don't quite fit with how the series turned out in the later volumes. Would be cool if someday we get a full Netflix financed anime adaption, where the story is rewritten/reworked into a cohesive overall story.
Its like Final Fantasy, they have similar concepts present in each one but they are mostly self-contained in different universes.
There is a crazy fan theory that they are all alternate universes linked by Toha Heavy Industries which can travel between them, but that doesn't link any characters, just gives an explanation for the presence of the same technology in different worlds.
It seems like Nihei has retconned the GBE in Blame! to rely on Hyggs particles, like in Sidonia. It makes things more unified so I guess I'm okay with it.
He did mention in interviews and omakes how the early volumes weren't meant to have much of a coherent plot or was expected to sell very well, it was a "doing it for the concept" type of thing, that's why so many stuff get dropped and never brought up again, like Killy having to eat food, Cibo's various handheld devices like the telescope thing, the courier and her dog (although they appear when he's rebooting in lava), etc
>The covers are the only thing in his new Sidonia style
The Exterminator was almost completely redrawn, across multiple pages.
Because she wasn't in the movie? I'd love an adaption of Dhomochevsky's arc. Davinelulinvega's quest to glimpse the netsphere, the badass fight between Killy and Schiff, that strange relationship between Dhomo and Pcell. The arc was full of cool stuff. Problem is though, that' you'd have to do the rest of the story as well, since the Dhomo arc is firmly intertwined with the rest of the story right till the end.
Where's the box of hax? why is Killy just choosing NOT to lift his arm up in this version? And why the fuck is Nihei hell-bent on ruining his older stuff with his dumb new style.
Was this supposed to be this page? What the fuck
And i've already preordered this shit
In some settings it makes sense. Look at Gundam IBO. Black mechanic and pilots, white pilots, Asian pilots, etc.
SJWs, though, want to have a coloring book of characters that fit every possible type of human out there to the point where its force. You not only need a black guy, you need a gay guy, a Native American transgender chick, etc. This is especially annoying when it doesn't even fit the setting, like if the anime is set in a Japanese school. Japan is like 98% Japanese, you don't see that many foreigners to begin with.
In the world of Blame!, I would expect to see different races I suppose, but keep in mind that almost everyone is as cybernetically enhanced as possible. When making yourself a new robot body, why worry about adding melanin to your skin if there is no sun anyway? The real answer, though, is everyone is Japanese so the Japanese audience (the main and as far as most studios are concerned, only market) can self-insert more easily. Same reason why all Hollywood movies are whitewashed to hell and back.
my main gripe with Nihei's new style isn't the endless white noise or the fatter yukkuri like heads and chipmunk cheeks, it's the fact that along with the lighter art style came a slightly lighter tone. people still die horrible deaths and shit gets depressing but there's way too much attempts at comedy.
had modern nihei written blame would have had a cibo panty shot within the 2nd page of her appearing, a KILLY BAKA" moment from her within the 3, and about 5 or so moments of killy getting his ass kicked in a hilarious manner between the 4-10 pages of said meeting.
Blame Gakuen was funny because of how weird they where when compared to the tone of blame and most of his other works at the time, but now all his series are beginning to be just like that. that tiny miku gauna in the snow manga just started but it just feels like more of the same shit you got in sidonia.
Doesn't need a translation if you recognize the scene, though. It's the one just after they meet the avatar of the authority and chased up the tower by safeguards. Cibo used her anti-safeguard beam circle to protect them while Killy shoots a hole in the megastructure above.
What are some other random cybernigga designs you like?
Dead after shitty life action movie and Korra
Korra moves closer to western animation and surprisingly become shit. Teen Titan was a weeb bait western animation too and that was decent but also dead.
How come hyper advanced aliens never attacked the city in Blame!?
In a world where the technology to make Dyson spheres and matter from nothing must necessarily exist (for that pictured structure to exist) and where rudimentary travels takes thousands of years it's hard to believe that no alien race wouldn't take notice of such a massive potential threat.
