Actually, lately, they've been focusing on the overarching plot more and the random murder cases became a sort of background thing.

Half the cases have some kind of development and they all explore the major characters in some way through interactions or backstories.

I think Gosho is doing us a big favor by making the series as long as possible now. Sure, he needs to squeeze out any idea he has left and it results in some occasional dumb cases but I still enjoy the series enough. Plus at this point, we good enough cool characters to keep things compelling.

If Conan ends,I'll be really sad because it's just really hard to find good manga to read now and near impossible to find good anime to watch.

It's not all about the end goal mysteries like "What's the BO?" or "Who's the boss"?

Currently, we're in the Rum arc where Kir sent a message about Rum who's the second in command of the organization.

From the last hundred chapters, we're being introduced to Rum suspects and getting clues about who he is and what he's planning. We also get some backstory of Bourbon and the Akai family.

Plus, the introduction of Momiji Ooka is great because Momiji is love.

Magic Kaito and Detective Conan are separate continuities, except when they're not.
The crossover cases are canon, and Kaito and his parents are involved with the actual Conan plot at times. However the Magic Kaito series includes actual magic and devil summoning shit, which would be insane if it was 100% canon to the Conan series.

You should check out the Magic Kaito 1412 anime from a couple years ago though.

Hell, maybe after Stardust Crusaders.
If anything, Vento Aureo should have happened after Stardust Crusaders.
It pissed me off that they made Joseph an adulterer in order to create another JoJo.
If they made Vento Aureo after Stardust Crusaders, then it could be assumed that GioGio was born around 1983 and would be old enough to have his own adventure by the time Diamond Is Unbreakable.

Then maybe either Jolene or Josuke could have been Jotaro's kid if they made Diamond Is Unbreakable or Stone Ocean take place in 2005 instead of when Vento Aureo, which took place in 2001.

Then either Josuke or Jolene could have been GioGio's kid and took place in like 2012-15 instead of 2011 like Stone ocean did.

Steel Ball Run and Jojolion shouldn't exist.
They're both really bad and the only thing good to come out of them was Diego was a completely justified version of Dio.
