Did you even watch it? It literally makes an argument against pretentiousness.

Just started rewatching it for the first time since it aired. The fast paced inner monologue is my favorite part, but it doesn't do much for me beyond that. It's a fine for change of pace, but it doesn't really deserve the praise or the hate it gets.

Not the best Yuasa anime.
