the "actual" game you're talking about is the same "highly-neutered" gameplay I'm talking about, Duel Links has the same exact duel format as the anime's Speed Duels.
I'm talking about them being broken in the format. Limited monster, spell, and trap zones means those cards with multiple effects are extremely useful.
A card with 1750 atk and 0 def in Duel Links has a rarity level of Super Rare. A 1500 atk 1200 def 4 star Gemini monster with the effect of changing just one of the opponent's monsters' position needs two turns to activate that effect. Finally, a 1800 atk 1050 def normal monster has a rarity of Ultra Rare.
Cyverse Magician has 1800 atk, the effect of changing monsters to defense position and a piercing effect. It would be banned in regular play or have a rarity level beyond the current rarest.

A 1750 ATK/0 DEF monster in the physical game, Speed Duel Format or not, is a common unless it has a decent effect, in which case it's a Rare.

Superheavies can drop a synchro, guaranteed, their first turn in a Speed Duel format. If they also opened Soulbuster and went T2, that's 4000~7000 damage coming in your direction. Turn 2. With Soulpiercer, that's game no matter what, unless you are running an anti-battle card, but that only buys you a turn at most, and they didn't lose any resources making that play, so it'll just be coming again next turn unless you rip into removal.

Speed Duels are incredibly fucking fast. A modern deck cut down to 20~30 cards can turn even petdecks into forces of nature compared to the card pool in Duel Links.

Some of the cards from the new pack are really hard to deal with but they've all got weaknesses. Golden Apples is only useful on direct attacks and unlike the javelin you lose the life points before getting them back, so taking too much damage at once doesn't let you activate them. For the most part, though, you're going to have to rely on Direct Downloads, since pretty much every torrent is going to be poorly seeded. There's a mega floating around of updated subs for GX (although I think the subs themselves weren't updated so much as the video quality of the raws), and 5Ds/ZeXal are decently accessible. ZeXal should still be decently seeded. As far as DM goes, can't help you there. I've only found streaming sites with subbed episodes of any reasonable quality.

Not a high bar. Yuya vs Strong was arguably the weakest intro duel already.

But if you wanna compare to ARC-V, by the end of ep 1, we generally understood Yuya and his motivations, we understood how his father's departure affected his growth as a person, by the end of ep 2 we understood his daily life at the duel school with Yuzu and Shuzo and how shit was affected by his acquisition of pendulum.

You can't tell me that Vrains handled its introduction anywhere near as organically.
